Extra Steps For Securing Your Gmail Account

How Do I Find My Password for Gmail

After youve set up a new password, Google will prompt you to check the security settings associated with your Gmail account and your Google account in general.

If you don’t already have them, we strongly advise you to add a phone number and a current backup email to your account.

Apart from helping to keep your Gmail account secure, they’ll make for easy account recovery if you ever forget your password again. But, you can take steps to prevent even that from happening.

Gmails Standard Recovery Procedure

  • Head to the Gmail sign-in page and click the Forgot Password link.
  • Enter the last password you remember. If you cant remember one, click Try a different question.
  • Enter the secondary email address you used when you set up your Gmail account to get a password reset email.
  • Gmail has a few different ways to confirm your identity and recover your password. Thankfully, theyre all laid out in a nice little wizard that Gmail will walk you through step-by-step.

Starting the password recovery process is pretty easy: just click the forgot password link on the Gmail sign-in page. Youll then be shown a message asking you to put in the last password you can remember. If you can remember a correct password and you have a backup system set up, youll then be asked to continue in a variety of ways. If you cant remember any of them, click try a different question.

Update, 11/8/21: Google is no longer requesting that you enter any passwords you remember. Instead, Gmail will jump straight into sending a code to your recovery email address or asking you for more information to help recover your account.

The next option will send a code to a recovery email, which rather presumes that you have a secondary recovery email . Using this option will send a six-digit code to your secondary email account that will allow you to set up a new password and regain access to your account.

Way : Enter The Time When You Created Your Gmail Account

If the ways above dont work for you, dont be upset. If you know the time when you created your Gmail account, you can try this way:

    1) Go to in your browser, and enter your Google email address that you want to recover.

Or you can directly go to Gmail account recovery center, then enter your Gmail address and click NEXT.

    3) Ignore the options that dont work for you by clicking Try another way or I dont have my phone, until you see the page: When did you create this Google Account?.

    4) Enter the correct Month and Year when you created this Gmail account, and click NEXT..

    5) Youll be instructed to reset a password for your Gmail account. Follow the instructions by Google to reset your Gmail account password.

While the hacker may delete the sent emails, they may not be able to delete the responses that they receive. If you find emails in your inbox that refer to conversations that you didn’t have, this is a strong indication of a hack.
