What Do Symbols Mean If Using Twitter

Twitter Icons and Symbols Tutorial

The first tweet was made in March 2006. But in April 2012, more than six years later, Business Insider journalist Jay Yarow lamented that people still don’t know how to use Twitter. The problem isn’t necessarily the basic acts of signing in to Twitter and posting tweets, but in understanding the Twitter language and “slang” symbols. Understanding these symbols and using them effectively is key to positioning yourself and your business as a “hip” authority on Twitter.

‘the Handmaid’s Tale’: What’s The Meaning Behind Hannah’s Purple Dress In Season 5

The Handmaid’s Tale is only three episodes into its fifth season, but the dystopian series is already giving viewers plenty to ponder. As the death of Commander Fred Waterford continues to ripple not only through Gilead, but now Canada and the world, even more questions are being raised, including the significance behind the purple dress Hannah wore in Season 5’s two-episode premiere, and Hulu finally gave fans some answers in Episode 3. Warning: This post contains spoilers for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5, Episode 3, “Border.”

Throughout all four complete seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale, fans have seen characters in Gilead donning different colors. The colors of clothing in Gilead signify a ranking within society. When she was imprisoned in Gilead as a handmaid, June, for example, wore red, a color that notified others of her ranking as a handmaid and also signified fertility. The Aunts who guide the handmaids don brown. Meanwhile, within households, Marthas are always seen wearing dull green, and high-ranking wives, such as Serena Waterford, are seen wearing teal. However, the color purple was absent throughout Gilead up until the final moments of Season 5, Episode 2, “Ballet.”

Undoubtedly, this news will only serve to further June’s justified disdain of Gilead and perhaps push her closer to finally being able to rescue Hannah. New episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale air Wednesdays on Hulu. Stay tuned to PopCulture.com for the latest updates.

Does It Make The Most Important Thing The Most Important Thing

In the gospel of Matthew, we read a story where a religious leader approaches Jesus and asks a question that I cant help but think any one of us would ask, if given the chance. What is the greatest commandment? he wants to know. Isnt there something in all of us wondering the same thing? What do I have to make sure I get right?

Even better than asking the question is the fact that Jesus actually answers it. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mindand the second is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself. Its almost as if Jesus gives us a cheat sheet tucked into all the pages of the Bible. Theres a lot to cover, a lot that raises questions, a lot that can feel unclear. But when you get down to it, Jesus spells out the most important thing.

Love of God, love of self, and love of neighbor.

Twitter Symbols And What They Mean

ByKristine Wirth | Submitted On June 17, 2010

If you’re relatively new to Twitter, or even if you’re not, you may have noticed quite a few symbols floating around here and there.

While they may seem like gibberish at first, they really do convey certain things while you’re posting in Twitter.

So let’s take a look at some of the more common Twitter symbols, what they are and how you can use them too.

The “@” symbol. This is very common and you’ll likely see people using it every day when they make updates. This symbol is often found directly in front of another Twitter username. This means that the person who made this post is directly referring to that specific individual. So, for example, if you wanted to reference someone that had the name “bluesky” then you would type @bluesky.

You can also hover over the post that you want to reference and you’ll see a link that says “Reply” which will automatically fill their name for you saving you the time of having to type it yourself.

The “#” tag. This is commonly referred to as the hashtag but sometimes is called simply the “pound symbol”. This references either an event that’s currently happening, or a specific topic. For instance, at certain times during the year, eZineArticles.com holds an event called “A Hundred Articles in One Hundred Days” and they’ve set up a specific hashtag so that you can follow others who are also participating in this event who use the specific hashtag that’s been set up for the event.

What Comes Next For The Fed With Inflation Stubbornly High

General Twitter Symbols

Even with all the Feds tightening so far, officials havent gotten much good news on the inflation front.

Consumer prices in August cooled only slightly to 8.3 percent from their fresh 40-year high of 9.1 percent in June, mostly thanks to falling gas prices. Food prices, however, continued to heat up, with the cost of groceries rising the most since March 1979. Even more troublesome, rent costs climbed by the most since 1986, while medical care, insurance and tuition costs also soared. Taken together, consumer prices excluding the volatile food and energy components actually ramped up in August, rising 0.6 percent from the month earlier and 6.3 percent from a year ago.

The Feds preferred inflation gauge of personal consumption expenditures also leapt 6.3 percent in July from a year ago, while core PCE in the same index rose 4.6 percent over the same period. The measure differs from CPI because it weights certain components differently.

A federal funds rate at 4.25-4.5 percent by the end of the year is seen as doing little to cool that inflation in the near term, the Feds projections show. Officials see headline PCE at 5.4 percent in 2022, though falling to 2.8 percent in 2023 and officially hitting the Feds 2 percent target in 2025. Core PCE, however, is even stickier, seen as increasing 4.5 percent in 2022, 3.1 percent in 2023 and holding above the Feds preferred level through 2025.
