Is Trump’s Twitter Locked

Don't Miss

Trump Is Back On Twitter

Trump’s Twitter account locked

Twitter made the decision to suspend President Trump’s account in the midst of the protests in Washington, D.C.

While the platform first labeled and then removed his Tweets “due to a risk of violence,” it eventually banned Trump for 12 hours. The platform cited “severe and repeated violations” of its Civic Integrity Policy, resulting in Trump’s ban.

Facebook and Instagram followed suit, choosing to ban Trump’s account indefinitely. These bans will likey be lifted after President-elect Joe Biden assumes office.

Twitter hinted at a more permanent expulsion of Trump if he continues to break the site’s rules. More specifically, it noted that “further violation of the Twitter Rules” will “result in permanent suspension.”

Now that the suspension period is over, Trump has already returned to Twitter with more messages for his supporters.

Twitter Temporarily Locks Trumps Account

Social media sites Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are removing messages from President Donald Trump in the aftermath of an insurrection by his supporters at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. Twitter said it was locking the presidents account for 12 hours, and would keep it locked if some tweets were not removed.

The site also flagged and later removed a video statement the president shared in response to the violence at the Capitol building.

In Trumps video message he doubled down on false claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election before calling for peace from his supporters.

The initial Twitter label for the video read: This claim of election fraud is disputed, and this Tweet cant be replied to, Retweeted, or liked due to a risk of violence.

Facebook and YouTube also took the video down.

This is an emergency situation and we are taking appropriate emergency measures, including removing President Trumps video. We removed it because on balance we believe it contributes to rather than diminishes the risk of ongoing violence, Facebooks Vice President of Integrity Guy Rosen said in a tweet Wednesday.

Twitter Locked Trump Campaign Account Until It Complied And Deleted A Tweet

If you’re tired of censorship, cancel culture, and the erosion of civil liberties

Twitter locked President Trumps official campaign account and prevented it from tweeting until it deleted a tweet featuring a clip of Trump calling for schools to be reopened during a Fox News interview.

The tweet was already made unavailable earlier today, meaning that its no longer publicly visible, but Twitter still forced the Trump Campaign account to delete it in order to be able to tweet again.

Earlier today, the clip was posted to President Trumps Facebook page and the Trump Campaign Twitter account with Trump then retweeting the clip from his Twitter account.

In the clip, Trump said his view is that schools should be open and that children are almost immune from the coronavirus.

But Facebook took issue with Trumps statements, branded them coronavirus misinformation, and took his post down.

Twitter followed suit by making the tweet from the Trump Campaign account unavailable and displaying a message that says: This tweet is no longer available because it violated the Twitter Rules.

This had the effect of removing the video from Trumps retweet and instead, just displaying a link to the unavailable tweet.

The removal of the clip represented an escalation in Big Techs censorship of Trump with social media platforms not only censoring his direct social media posts but now also censoring the statements he makes to the media.

Twitter Locks Trump’s Account For 12 Hours After Removal Of Tweets

PHOENIX – President Donald Trump will have to do something else besides tweet for the next 12 hours to get his message out.

This means that the account of will be locked for 12 hours following the removal of these Tweets. If the Tweets are not removed, the account will remain locked.

Twitter said if Trump doesn’t delete the tweets, his account will remain locked.

Twitter Says Trump Ban Is Permanent Even If He Runs For Office Again

Twitter Locks President Trump

Chief financial officer says when youre removed, youre removed our policies dont allow people to come back

Donald Trumps ban from the social media platform Twitter is going to stick even if he runs for the White House again and even if he won again, a senior executive said on Wednesday.

The former presidents permanent block from Twitter is permanent, Twitters chief financial officer, Ned Segal, said during an interview on CNBC when he was asked whether Trumps tweeting privileges could be restored if he ever returns to power.

The way our policies work, when youre removed from the platform, youre removed from the platform, Segal said.

He added: Whether youre a commentator, youre a CFO, or you are a former or current public official. Remember, our policies are designed to make sure that people are not inciting violence, and if anybody does that, we have to remove them from the service and our policies dont allow people to come back.

The news came as Trumps impeachment trial is taking place in the Senate, on a charge that he incited an insurrection with his inflammatory exhortations at a rally in Washington immediately before the breach of the US Capitol by a murderous mob on 6 January.

When he was impeached last year, he tweeted criticism throughout, although then, and now, he declined to appear at the trial in his own defense.

Its Clear That Enough Is Enough

Twitters latest move limits the presidents ability to tweet until he formally deletes three tweets that the company deems dangerous. It is an escalation of its runningconflict with the president throughout 2020 as he spread conspiracy theories about the election and covid-19.

But the decision does not fully suspend the presidents account, or block him permanently from the platform. As a world leader, Trump has benefited from policies that provide exceptions to normal enforcement measures owing to the inherent newsworthiness of his messages or the public interest in them. But expertsincluding current and former Twitter insiderssay that the events at the Capitol should be more than enough evidence to demonstrate why labels and individual takedowns no longer go far enough.

Laura Gómez, a former Twitter employee who has repeatedly for CEO Jack Dorsey to suspend Trumps account , says that simply taking the video down is like putting a Band-Aid on an arm thats been blown off.

Meanwhile, Danielle Citron, a law professor at the University of Virginia who has advised Twitter on addressing hate speech and harassment since 2009, publicly urged Twitter to ban Trump from the platform for good.

As someone who has served on your Trust and Safety Board since its inception and counseled you since 2009, time is now to suspend President Trumpâs account. He has deliberately incited violence, causing mayhem with his lies and threats.

Trump Allowed Back Onto Twitter

Technology reporters

US President Donald Trump has been allowed to Tweet again, after being locked out of his account for 12 hours.

Posting a more conciliatory message, he refrained from reiterating false claims of voter fraud.

Twitter said that it would ban Mr Trump “permanently” if he breached the platform’s rules again.

The move from Twitter puts clear water between it and Facebook, which suspended him “indefinitely” on Thursday.

Twitter has instead given the outgoing president a final warning.

Earlier on Thursday, the popular gaming platform Twitch also placed an indefinite ban on Mr Trump’s channel, which he has used for rally broadcasts.

Mr Trump tweeted several message on Wednesday, calling the people who stormed Capitol Hill “patriots”. He also said “We love you.”

President Donald Trump’s tweeting privileges were briefly restored following Twitter’s temporary lock on his account this week for inciting what became a violent insurrection at the US Capitol. In his first tweet since being let out of the penalty box, Trump shared a video conceding that he will be a one-term president. He would tweet twice more before Twitter determined it had finally had enough.

Twitter on Wednesday put President Trump on notice: If he does not stop breaking the platform’s rules, he will be permanently banned.

The stern warning followed another step never before taken by Twitter: It locked Trump out of his account for 12 hours after the removal of three tweets that the company said were a “severe violation” of Twitter’s rules.

Once Trump’s time-out expires on Twitter, the company said it may boot the president off the platform for good if his sharing of election-relation disinformation and glorifications of violence continue.

Facebook deleted the same video Twitter acted on and blocked Trump’s account from sharing messages for 24 hours, but the social network did not say it was considering a permanent suspension of Trump.

Among the tweets that Twitter removed from public view was a video addressed to the mob that violently swarmed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. In the video, Trump said he loved those supporters, even as he told them to go home. He also fanned conspiracy theories that the presidential election was stolen from him.

In the two other tweets removed, Trump falsely suggested he had won the presidential election.

Twitter promised to “continue to evaluate the situation in real time, including examining activity on the ground and statements made off Twitter. We will keep the public informed, including if further escalation in our enforcement approach is necessary.”

Twitter has long grappled with how best to respond to Trump’s tweets. It has mostly argued that since Trump is president, his tweets are different there’s a public interest aspect. That privilege was set to expire on Jan. 20 following President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, but today’s events were apparently a breaking point.

Twitter Finally Muzzling Trump Is Too Little Too Late

The nations Capitol on Wednesday looked eerily like a stream on social media, where the faces of white men with MAGA hats on, and little emoji flags next to their names, who spew conspiracy theories and hatred, had somehow morphed into human form and been unleashed into the world. Thats because the thousands of MAGA supporters who descended on the Capitol building and breached the gates, were set off to do so by none other than Twitter and Facebook, all coming from one single central point: from Donald J. Trumps social accounts.

On Wednesday, finally, after 11 years, eight months, and two days , after Trump used the platform to almost destroy the country and act in ways that no sitting president has ever even thought to act, the company responded by deleting three of Trumps tweets . The company also suspended his account for 12 hours, threatening to keep it locked until the tweets were deleted. Facebook also finally muted Trump, deleting a video he posted that praised the riotous mob that breached the Capitol on Wednesday, and then explaining in a blog post why the company took emergency measures to remove this and similar posts.

Soon after, Facebook announced it had banned Trump from posting to his Facebook profile for 24 hours. Then Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, made the same call. Then Snapchat followed suit, though without any stipulation on duration. And by Thursday, Facebook and Instagram said they were banning Trump indefinitely. Twitter Permanently Suspends Donald Trump’s Account President Teases New Platform

The social media platform has been his preferred method of communication.

Social media platforms temporarily block Trumps accounts

It appears President Donald Trump will have to find a new preferred platform to share his views with the world.

announced Friday evening that it had permanently suspended Trump.

Trump’s final tweet said he would not be attending the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.

Hashtags for “TrumpBanned” and “Thank you Twitter” quickly rose to the top of the social media site in the wake of the permanent suspension.

Hours after his suspension, Trump released a statement criticizing the ban, and teasing a possible new platform.

“I predicted this would happen,” he wrote in part. “We have been negotiating with various other sites, and will have a big announcement soon, while we also look at the possibilities of building out our own platform in the near future. We will not be SILENCED!”

“Twitter is not about FREE SPEECH. They are all about promoting a Radical Left platform where some of the most vicious people in the world are allowed to speak freely,” he added.

The blog post from Twitter announcing the ban cited the events of Wednesday’s raid on the U.S. Capitol as a reason for the suspension. Trump’s account had been temporarily suspended in the wake of the rioting, but warned the president another violation of its terms of service would result in a permanent ban.
