Checking Your Urls In Google Analytics
Once you have let your pins run for a little bit you can go into Google Analytics and check your pins to see which boards work the best.
Go to Campaigns > All Campaigns > Your Campaign
I labeled my campaign pintastic-920 so I could know it was that campaign and what month I pinned the pins in.
This is the first few days of my marketing site running. So I can see I got:
- 26 Repin medium sized pins
- 22 Video pins on my marketing artfully board
- 5 Using the Tailwind creator templates and pinning right from within Tailwind
My Artsy Fartsy site gets much more traffic to different boards so I wanted to show you those and how I can tell which boards are working!
So here is what this means to me
- Best board Alzheimer and Dementia with a video pin
- Video overall are doing good
- My Menopause board did good with a video
- The Junk Journal board did good with a video
That is a LOT more than I ever knew. I know that medium and tall pins are doing better, video the best overall. My Artsy Fartsy, Junk Journal, Alzheimers and Menopause boards are good.
But then I can drill down one more level and see which posts they like the best!
In Secondary Dimension type in Landing Page.
Okay, once you drill down into each separate one you can see all over the board videos do at least a little well on my artsy fartsy board, no matter the content.
You would go into each of your types of pins and see which types of pins do the best on which boards!
Crafting A Pinning Strategy
Now we know how to make a compelling graphic, and how important your descriptions are and how to structure them. Lets go over your pinning strategy as that will also play a role in how well your pins get engagement.
If you want to craft a Pinterest strategy from the very beginning, or your current strategy is not working and you cant tell where youre going wrong, I highly recommend checking out Anas Pinterest ebook: .
I have talked a little bit about having a Blog Board which is a board on my blog this board contains only your pins on it, that lead to your blog posts or pages. So anything relevant to the content you have created and ever made a pin for, youll always pin it to this board.
Naturally, if youve followed some of the tips above youll also start getting engagement by way of clicks and saves.
Its kind of like a snowball effect. But its also a good thing to know that not every single one of your pins will perform well. This comes down to timing, and who is seeing this pin. You can always invest in Tailwind or hire a Virtual Assistant to help you spread out your pins to optimize engagement. This also brings me to our next point of focus

Which Boards Should You Pin To
When you have your title, description, and Pins ready, theres one last thing to think about.
What board to Save it to!
currently recommend Saving to the most relevant, keyworded board first. This sends the algorithm helpful signals so your Pin will be shown to the most interested audience.
Go with either the most relevant board, or a top performer if you like. You can experiment with trying both of these to see which gets the best results.
You can also Save your Pin to more than one board. Tailwinds Smart Guide recommends no more than 10 boards, but this isnt a rule, just guidance.
Space out the Pins going to different boards, so your feed isnt full of the same Pin repeatedly. Tailwind interval pinning helps you do this quickly and easily.
When Pinning to the first board, consider Pinning related content around the same time. This is called board co-occurrence.

Accompanying Title And/or Descriptive Picture
Instead, choose an image that reflects the link’s contents. If you’re struggling to convey an abstract concept, feel free to add text to your image to describe it. The above example didn’t need that — the icons themselves conveyed what was behind the link: free downloadable icons. If you want an example of a great pin with text on it, check the one out below. Without the title on the image, the pin wouldn’t nearly be as strong — people would have no idea that this was an ebook they could download.
Moral of the story here: make sure that people know what’s inside the pin so they feel enticed to click. If you feel like the image isn’t pulling its weight on its own, add text. That little bit of text could make the difference between someone clicking on your pin or not.
You Can Make Those Pin It Buttons That Pop Up All The Time Disappear
If you’re using Chrome, the Pin It button you can add to the browser also causes little buttons that scream “pin me! pin me!” to appear when your mouse hovers over a photo. Sure, they’re handy, but can also be distracting as you scroll down a page. Get rid of them by right-clicking the Pin It button, selecting Options, and then checking “Hide hovering Pin it buttons,” to say bye-bye to these flittering little guys.
There is one caveat: Some savvy websites and blogs might have installed their own “pin this!” buttons, which you won’t be able to banish.
Create Beautiful Pins To Boost Engagement
Here are some of our top tips for creating beautiful Pins that your viewers will want to save and share:
Use high-quality photos: Make sure they are sharp, in focus, well-composed, properly showcase your product, and match your brand aesthetic.
Use portrait shots: Because , taller images perform better as they fill more of the screen as a user scrolls down through the explore page. The max aspect ratio for Pins is 1:2.8 so getting creative with the length of your images could make a big difference to your engagement rates.
Create Pins with multiple images: If youre skilled in Photoshop, you can edit multiple images together to create one, long Pin. However, we suggest you keep it to less than four images for clarity.
Keep text on your Pins to a minimum: Remember that your Pin is just a snapshot of the link youre sharing, so youll want to keep the text on your Pin short and simple.

Pin At Optimal And Different Times Of The Day
Pinterest works 24/7 and pinning at different times throughout the day and night will help your pins be seen by new local and global audiences.
According to Cynthia Sanchezs article , you should test and use response data to determine the best times to pin to your boards. Use a tool like Tailwind App to find out which days and what times are generating the most repins and likes for your pins.
To reach pinners in another time zone, you can even schedule some of your pins with Viral Tag.
S For Finding And Viewing My Saved Pins And Boards
We will also have the use of filters at hand, both by theme or by tables , in this way if we know in which theme we have saved a certain table. By indicating the subject, he will show us the different pins that are in that precise location. We will therefore avoid using keywords to search for Pins, a very notable difference.
Another mode that we can use to find pins is through tables, because we can do specs in the search. This means that we can ask to show boards where we’ve recently saved Pins. We can also search in alphabetical order or ask for the ones we liked.
We will also be able to search for Pins on our board thanks to a feature that does not allow you to enter any words. To use this new option, you will tap or click on the magnifying glass icon. You can find it in the upper right corner of the screen.
Once you have chosen the magnifying glass, you go to the image and select the section of it that interests you. And then you will see the pins which are related to the area you selected in the picture. As you can see, this is a very smart way to find pins on your boards without having to type anything.
Another innovation that the social network has included in its new improved version is that it adapts to the language and region of the users. This will make it much easier for users to find Pins that are described in their language or that they find more relevant.

Pin Design Mistakes To Avoid
And if your pin doesnt stand out in the crowd or if people cant quickly read what youve written in your pin, youre missing a whole lot of opportunities to get traffic over to your website.
Therefore, its crucial that your pins are legible and decipherable, and that your text stands out. Here are a few quick ways to make sure that happens:
- Use clear or faded out backgrounds and make sure nothing overlaps with your text.
- Make sure that your text size is big enough to be read even on a mobile screen.
- Use easy to read fonts .
- Alternate your fonts to make certain words pop out. You can also use Canvas free font combinator to find the best match and see which fonts look good together.)

Pin Engaging Captivating Content
So, what makes a captivating Pin?
- Consider your image and video quality. You want to avoid pixelation,
- Descriptive copy. Good descriptions can help you improve SEO, add context to your images, and encourage users to click on links.
- Text overlay. Consider including a headline that reinforces your visual message.
- Tasteful branding. If it makes sense for your brand and corresponds to your Pinterest marketing strategy, incorporate your logo in your Pins so your brand doesnt get lost in the Repin shuffle.
- Make sure your links work. Broken links wont help your brand! Make sure the link with your Pin wont go to a 404 and that it loads quickly to give Pinners the best user experience.
Finally, be consistent! Consistent, daily Pinning is more effective than creating a board and filling it up at once. And Pinning regularly ensures your content will reach a wider audience.
Using Hootsuite to schedule Pins will help your brand stay on top of your content calendar.
