When it comes to searching for jobs, LinkedIn can be a powerful resource. It allows employers to post job openings to the site , and you can search for these openings using the job search tool. LinkedIn also allows you to use your connections to find new positions and ask for recommendations. Additionally, you can follow companies so you’ll always be notified of their latest LinkedIn posts.

Because employers frequently use LinkedIn to screen and recruit potential candidates, more and more companies have begun posting job openings to the site. This is why it’s so important to learn how to use LinkedIn’s job search tool.

To search for jobs, click the Jobsicon, then type what you’re looking for in the search box. You can also narrow your search results by using the filters near the top of the window, like company, recent postings, and experience level.
To learn more about a particular job, click the job title. In addition to details like the job’s location and requirements, you’ll see how many of your connections work for that particular company.
You can also set up preferences for your job search through the Career interests function. From your profile, scroll down until you find Your Dashboard, then click Career interests.

Upload A Great Headshot
Your headshot is one of the first things people see, so if you want to use LinkedIn to land a job, make sure your profile photo is giving off the right impression. Choose a photo thats clear, professional, and friendly-looking.
It doesnt need to be stiff-looking , but you probably shouldnt choose a photo where youre drinking from a keg, either.
You can also upload a background image to make your profile stand out further. However, your headshot is more important because thats one of the things employers see BEFORE they even click your profile.

While it is very easy to send the connection request without customizing it, adding a note will greatly increase the likelihood of your request being accepted. Personalization can help you start meaningful conversations and create memorable first impressions.

The more specific your request, the more likely I am to think of a way to help you before my mind wanders back to those other 100 unopened emails.
For example, if you write, looking for a marketing internship, your only hope is that I happen to be looking for a marketing intern right at that moment and am willing to click through to the discussion to see if youre a fit. However, if you write, looking for a summer marketing internship in NYC with an e-commerce company like Warby Parker or Bonobos, I might remember that I know someone at Warby Parker. It doesnt matter if my contact is looking for internsI can easily shoot your resume over with a note saying that Warby is one of your favorite companies and ask her to please consider you when shes next hiring.
Even if you dont know exactly what you want, you lose nothing by naming a few companies. Specificity is always helpful in reminding your connections who they know.

Comment Post And Engage
The more active you are, the more youll get seen by recruiters, potential new colleagues who can refer you to their company for a job, etc.
One good way to get seen is following a few big influencers and commenting on their posts. When I comment on a big influencers post, my comment usually gets 10 likes. Whereas a regular comment of mine might get 0-2 likes.
Then you can go connect with those people who liked your comment. Youll build more and more connections by doing this.
You never know when one connection will be able to introduce you to a hiring manager or get you an interview. So you need to just keep engaging and building your network if you want to use LinkedIn to find a job.
You can also post content yourself just keep it positive and professional. You can post examples of past work, case studies, interesting articles you find, questions, and more.

Promote Your Work Experience On Linkedin
You don’t have to add all of them pick and choose the ones that add value to your profile, that you’re proud of, or that you’d like to show up in searches.
Use the Media section to link to your works in progress or achievements. Include blog posts, magazine articles, your photography/artwork, a business you created, videos, or social media accounts you’ve helped with. If there’s something you’re proud of, stick it here and show it off!
It goes without saying, but make sure you comb through your profile for typos, goofs and broken links. Any mistakes in this area will reflect pretty badly on you to potential future employers.
