How To Stop The Quora Emails
Tired of your inbox being flooded with Quora new follow notifications? Heres how to stop em.
Login at Quora.com. Click on Settings in the upper-right nav bar.
On the Settings page, look for the section on the left called Email Settings. Expand each area by clicking on the blue view settings link next to it, and uncheck everything for which you dont want to be emailed. Make sure you click Save when done.
All of the auto-follows arent a best practice, needless to say nor is the automatic population of email notifications. Both should require affirmative user consent. But unless and until Quora rights those wrongs, this should help stem the tide.
Of course, you could also just delete your Quora account altogether I havent taken that step yet, myself, but may get there soon.
What Else You Need To Know
Whats great about filtering text messages from unknown senders is that these messages arent blocked. So if youre expecting a text from an unknown sender, such as a repair person or a delivery driver, youll still be able to see the text message. Just tap Filters => All Messages when youre expecting an important text from an unknown sender.
With the iPhone setting to block unknown callers turned on, you dont receive calls from callers not in your Contacts list, such as a delivery driver or a repair person. But with the Filter Unknown Senders setting turned on in Messages, you can easily switch to the All Messages folder in the Messages app to avoid missing an important text from someone not in your Contacts list.
Another helpful feature of this setting is that you wont be able to accidentally open a link in a spam email. According to Apple, You cant open any links in a message from an unknown sender until you add the sender to your contacts or reply to the message.
How Do I Turn Off Email Notifications
If you signed up on a site that sends lots of emails, like promotions or newsletters, you can use the unsubscribe link to stop getting these emails. On your computer, go to Gmail. Open an email from the sender you want to unsubscribe from. Next to the senders name, click Unsubscribe or Change preferences.

How To Filter Text Messages From Spammers
You can filter text messages from unknown senders on your iPhone in three easy steps. Go to Settings=> Messages => Filter Unknown Senders => On
With this setting turned on, messages from spammers will go to the Unknown Senders folder in your Messages app.
Next, open the Messages app and tap Filters at the top of the screen.
On the next screen, youll see the folders for your messages:
- All Messages
- Known Senders
- Unknown Senders
If you only want to see messages from people in your Contacts list, tap Known Senders.
With this setting turned on, youll no longer have your Messages app clogged with spam messages. Those messages will be tucked away, hidden from view unless you choose to see them. You no longer will have to worry about missing an important text message in a long list of spammy texts.

Theres no difference in the eyes of the law in the US between a cold email and your newsletter. You still must have your mailing address and a way to unsubscribe. However, most email marketing providers are stricter than the law and dont allow sending emails unless people have explicitly opted in.

On the web, click on an email from the sender you want to block. Click on the three dots at the bottom of the email and select Block.This will send future email from this sender to your Spam folder. Alternatively, click on the More button at the top of the email and select Filter emails like this.
