Since Instagram and Facebook are owned by the same company, Meta, you can connect the two accounts for a more seamless experience. Connecting your Instagram and Facebook accounts allows you to:
- Login with Facebook into Instagram
- Sync your profile name and picture across both profiles
- Use Facebook Pay on both platforms
- Access your shopping activity on both accounts
If youre a frequent Facebook user, then connecting your account to your new Instagram profile is highly recommended. Heres how:
1. Open up your Instagram app.
2. Click on your profile picture on the bottom right-hand corner.
3. Click the hamburger menu on the top right-hand corner.
4. Tap Settings.
5. Under the Meta logo, tap Accounts Center.
6. Tap Set up Accounts Center.
7. Follow the prompts to log in into Facebook.

When you use an approved scheduling tool like Tailwind or Later, it is important to be logged into the right account on your app for some types of posts.
For example, Stories and carousel posts still need to be posted manually. So, when you click a notification from the scheduling app to post, you need to be logged into the right Instagram account on the app first.

Theres another option to removing an account, and thats deleting it.
Deleting an Instagram account must be done via a browser. You cant delete your account from within the Instagram app on your mobile device.
Permanently deleting your Instagram account cannot be undone!
When you delete your account, your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes and followers will be permanently removed in 30 days.

3. On the popup menu, tap on Settings.
4. Tap on Log Out at the bottom of the next screen you might need to scroll down slightly.

When you tap Search & Explore on the Instagram app’s bottom row, you’re taken to the Search & Explore page, where you can see content curated to your interests. How To Deactivate Instagram
If you want to take a short break from Instagram, you can disable your account instead of permanently deleting it.
Doing this means people wont be able to find your account, look at your photos or message you, but it also means you can one day bring your account back to life if you ever get the urge to get back on that Instagram train.
To do this, you’ll need to head to the browser version of Instagram, as it’s not possible within either the iOS or Android apps. So head to a browser on your phone, tablet or desktop computer and with your account details.
Then youll want to press the person icon in the top right and then press Edit Profile. Youll then need to scroll down the page and press “Temporarily disable my account.
Youll need to give a reason for leaving to be able to disable your account and the form will ask you for your password one last time, just to check its still you using it. Youll then be able to press the button and disable your account.
How To Add Instagram Account Switching To Existing Accounts
Account switching became available as part of Instagram version 7.15 for iOS and Android. First make sure your app is updated. If it IS and you still dont have account switching, one user reported that deleting and reinstalling the app solved this issue.
You can add multiple Instagram accounts to switch between them without having to log out and log back in.
To add existing Instagram accounts:
- Go to your profile and tap your account name along the top.
- In the pop-up that opens, tap Log Into Existing Account.
- Once you have added the account, it will show in this pop-up .
- Tap the account you want to use to switch between them.
To switch between accounts youve added:
- Go to your profile.
- Tap your username at the very top of the screen.
- Tap the account youd like to switch to.
- OR you can switch from any tab with a long-press your profile picture in the bottom left!
Note that you can add up to 5 accounts on one device.
From now on, just tap your at the bottom of any panel to switch between accounts.
Once you have multiple accounts added, youll see your profile photo appear in places throughout the app so you can always tell which one youre using at the moment. I noticed that my account name appears in the comment field so Im sure which account Im using. Nice!
