LinkedIn is adding new ways for you to control who views your posts, who can comment on them, and even letting you build your own feed so you dont have to see everything anymore.

How I Got My Post Featured On LinkedIns Publishing Platform
is one of the most powerful tools in the business world and reaches more than 300 million professionals worldwide. This focus on the professional life is what differentiates it from Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms. LinkedIns Publishing Platform allows you to post content , position yourself as an authority, build a following, boost your brand and expose your work to potential clients, future employers and key decision makers in your industry. You never know who might be reading your content there.
LinkedIn has stated that the average Influencer post drives more than 31,000 views and receives more than 250 likes and 80 comments. Influencer posts do get a promotional boost by the platform but the numbers show that there is a great potential for driving engagement and visitors for average users too. I am the proof. The second post I published there was featured in three channels with a combined follower count being more than five million people. My post was listed right next to an article from Richard Branson of Virgin. Within a day of publishing the post got 10,000+ views, 800+ likes, 65+ comments and 1,900+ social shares.
How To Look For Relevant Connections On Linkedin
Unless youre just getting started in your industry, theres a good chance you already know a fair number of people who do the same job as you.
Controversial opinion alert: I dont recommend spending too much time looking for peers to connect with.
I dont mean that you shouldnt connect with them: you definitely should! Its just that youll often come across them naturally over time, so you dont need to spend much effort seeking them out.
Remember that your peers will probably follow the same influencers and attend the same events as you do. Youll run into them soon enough.
The people you really want to get in front of are potential clients and specifically the decision-makers who have the power to give you project work.
Ill give you an example for my own business. Adapt this for what you do.
Im a technical copywriter. That means I write content that explains how things work physical products, apps, online services, processes you name it.
The decision-makers I usually want to target are Chief Marketing Officers and Chief Technical Officers .
My method is to search LinkedIn for people with the job role of CMO and CTO. Ill do a search like this and click the People option.

Know When To Pause Your Linkedin Posts
Scheduling LinkedIn posts ahead of time is a great way to save time while maintaining a consistent LinkedIn presence. However, this is not a situation where you can just set it and forget it.
We live and work in a fast-moving world, and its important to be aware of major news events, trends, and potential crises that could impact your scheduled posts or make pre-created content inappropriate.
Weve already talked about how you can edit, reschedule, or delete individual scheduled LinkedIn posts, but in some situations, it might be best to pause all scheduled content.
What Should I Do Next
First, I need to change my LinkedIn publishing process. But with this data, as great as a result it shows, my insight is too limited to make a good decision.
To this end, I have started to add content to my LinkedIn queue of content in Agorapulse and I have decided to repeat each piece 3 times. Im kind of worried to repeat it more than that. Id love to conduct more experiments on this.
I have also added queue slots on the weekends. I didnt have any before, assuming that weekends wouldnt be a good fit for a professional social network, but the data proved me wrong.
What I really want to do is to start a more thorough test on our Social Media Lab and get results with much more data to try to get patterns like days of the week, time of the day, optimal number of repeats, and so on.
I would also love to know how many clicks I got thanks to this increase in views. For this brief test, I didnt use bit.ly here so I dont know.

Here Are My Solutions For Taking Control Of Your Personal Linkedin Feed:
1. The dot-dot-dot button
- Hide this post which basically tells LinkedIn you dont want to see the post in your newsfeed. The more you hide posts of a similar nature or on a certain topic the more you inform LinkedIn that you no longer want to see content like the posts you keep Hiding. You should see the impact of you selecting the hide button quite quickly.
- Unfollow X meaning you remain connected to the person, but you will no longer see their posts in your feed. This is handy if you wish to remain in contact as they are not notified when you unfollow them but keeps your feed free from posts that you find annoying, repetitive, irrelevant or of little value. Please note, you can still directly message people you dont follow but remain Connected to.
- Report this post if you believe the post is from an account which has been hacked or you perceive the post to be particularly offensive you can take this option to flag the post up to LinkedIn themselves.
- Improve my feed a good way to gain more control of your LinkedIn feed is to customise it by choosing from LinkedIns recommended sources for you to follow. For instance, a marketer may choose to follow #contentstrategy. You can follow whichever pages, profiles or hashtags that catch your eye!

I Can’t See My Posts On Linkedin
Many users want to view their Shares right after they’ve been posted to verify that they display the way they want it to. For Twitter and Facebook, this is as simple as going to your profile and viewing your timeline.
For LinkedIn, this is a little more difficult. Your Share does not appear in the timeline on your LinkedIn home page or on your LinkedIn profile. Instead, you need to view your recent activity to see what you have shared. To do this, select Posts & Activity from the Me section of LinkedIn’s navigation.
This will bring up your recent activity on LinkedIn and show you your recent Shares.
1w means this share was posted 1 week ago. If you click on the three periods on the right hand side it will bring up a menu that allows you to delete the Share if you do not like how it appears.
If you choose the Posts option, you will see only your content.
Building Your Linkedin Presence Starts With Getting In Front Of The Right People
One of the hardest parts of building your LinkedIn presence is keeping your network engaged. And if you’re familiar with – and how they often change without notice – even the concept of reaching the right audience in the first place can be a challenge.
As with all social platforms, LinkedIn wants its members to stay on the platform and be more engaged, which is why its algorithms favor certain content types over the others.
Take a look at the sample posts below with links versus those without any links, which I posted two weeks ago at around the same time.

Compare them with these posts without links, which I posted at around the same time as that of samples 1.1 and 1.2.
You can see, based on these sample posts, that the first post with a link garnered only 535 views compared to another post without a link posted at around the same time, which gained 7,729 views. That’s 14x more views than the first one.
The second post without a link garnered 9,789 views – a whopping 42x increase in views – compared to the post with a link, which received only 232 views.
What I’ve observed is that, if you share a post with “double links,” i.e., a company page update that links to an external site , you’ll just pull your views down the drain. It goes nowhere.

Use Hashtags With Mint Copy
Dont leave your hashtags hanging. Even if youre sharing an image or video, hashtags are no substitute for stellar copy. Your posts should always include at least one line of descriptive copy and include a .
Hashtags can be placed after copy, or embedded within copyso long as it makes sense to do so.
As a best practice, write your copy and then see if certain keywords can be made into hashtags. #Do #not #hashtag #every #word. Not only will this look like spam, theres no point in tagging words that arent important.
Always remember the goal of your post, and use hashtags to facilitate them, not compete with them.

If you share video on LinkedIn, make sure you upload it directly to LinkedIn rather than pasting in a link to YouTube or another video site.
Native videos thats videos uploaded directly in the LinkedIn app or via the browser version of LinkedIn perform much better than external videos.

How I Repeated My Content On Linkedin
The post I wanted to give a little boost to was this one: How weve built a profitable business in a highly competitive environment. It took me 5 years to learn but just 3 hours to write!
Using the Repeat Content feature on Agorapulse, I decided to schedule the first post on August 11th at 5:30PM. The post would then repeat four additional times, every 10 days.
Heres where I set up the schedule although Im using other dates here. Just go with it
The calendar shows me exactly when your post will be published.
Once I clicked the orange schedule button, my post was automatically scheduled for August 11, August 21, August 31, September 10, and September 20 at 5:30PM.
That was like five clicks on one screen. Pretty easy!
Then I waited for the results to roll in.
Make Sure Your Hashtags Are Public
If you run a business profile on LinkedIn, your profile and posts most likely already are public. But it never hurts to check.
Simply edit public profile settings settings to Make my public profile visible to everyone. That way your hashtag will be searchable by all of LinkedIns 562 million membersnot just your personal LinkedIn network.
For individual posts, click Post Settings and select if youd like to share your post and hashtags on Twitter as well.
