Recover Deleted Emails In Gmail: Trash Folder
Google is well aware that it’s easy to accidentally delete an important email or to decide post-deletion that an email was actually more important than you first realised. For this reason, Gmail doesn’t immediately erase your emails when you hit the delete button. Instead, it sends them to a separate ‘trash’ folder, from which emails can be viewed and recovered as necessary.
Don’t leave it too long, however, as Google deletes emails from the trash folder after 30 days, unless your organization uses Google Vault. Deleted emails can also be retrieved from the Admin console, which lets admins restore messages that were permanently deleted from a users Trash within 25 days of deletion. However, after 25 days, the data is gone forever.
If you do accidentally delete an email and you haven’t cleared the trash yet, it’s worth heading to the trash folder and searching for the email you think might be gone for good. Of course, if you’re not sure what it was called or can’t remember any other information that may appear in it , you can browse through the entire folder.
When you’ve found the email, you can live it back to your inbox or file it away in a folder by clicking on the folder icon under the search bar. You can also return it to its previous location by tapping the x’ next to the trash icon by the subject line.
