Instead of sharing the original Instagram post, they are uploading the original photo from the post to stories and then tagging the photographer.

You can create a similar look by either taking a screenshot or asking the creator to share the original Instagram story with you. You could also zoom in on the native story when reposting, but this can create some friction for those wanting to tap through your story, so it may not be the best option .

Can I See Who Shared My Instagram Story

As you already know, whenever youre tagged in someones Instagram Story, you receive a direct message letting you know that you have been mentioned. You will get this message whether youre being tagged in one of the users original Stories or one of your own Stories that they are reposting.

However, if someone creates a screen recording of your Story, saves it to their Camera Roll, and then reposts it, you wont be notified unless they voluntarily tag you. This is because they have essentially created a new Story using your content. If someone shares your Story in a private message, you wont be notified either.

After opening the screen recorder, you can record any story by following the steps below.

  • First, open your Instagram application and find the story which you want to share with your followers.
  • To open the screen recorder, swipe up the screen if you are using an iPhone. If you are using Android, open the screen recorder application you just have downloaded.
  • Turn on the screen recording and open the story. Stop the screen recording after the video ends.
  • The screen recording will be automatically saved in your photo gallery. Now you can share this video on your Instagram Story.

When Reposting Is A Good Thing

How to Repost Instagram Story Post as a Instagram Feed Post

Reposting other peoples work on social media is something that has to be done sparingly and be done properly. Instagram takes care of attribution by adding the original Story creators profile to your repost but if it didnt, it is good manners to attribute them with a hashtag or link.

Reposting can be useful for individual users but also for people promoting themselves, their products or services, or their business. You just have to do it right.

Here are some ways reposting can be a positive:

Promoting a local event or charity Nobody minds you reposting an Instagram Story promoting a local event or charity. As long as you only do it once and it adds value to that organization.

Providing helpful tips or problem-solving A bit like TechJunkie does here, reposting a tip for fixing an issue or solving a problem is always welcome. We all have issues with tech and with daily life so genuinely helpful advice is usually gratefully accepted.

Sharing interesting, random, or breaking news As long as it isnt fake news or political, people dont usually mind you reposting something that is random, interesting, or breaking. Just be selective in what you post and keep it relevant.

Promoting yourself or your products You have to be careful not to overdo it but the occasional repost to promote something you did or something your product or service achieved is usually well-received. As long as this kind of repost is kept to a minimum, it usually goes down okay.
