Why Pin Your Own Artwork
Many reasons! First, it helps your artwork be seen by even more admiring eyes online. But whats equally important is making sure the pins are done correctly, so it actually benefits your art business.
Again, adding in specific keywords to your description, such as yellow and blue abstract painting, will help your art come up in the search results when collectors are trying to find the perfect piece.
Also, when pinning your artwork yourself, you can double check to make sure the link to your website works when people click on the image of your art, which should work automatically with the Pin It button. With the right link attached to the image, people will be redirected back to your page of stunning, new pieces, so they can actually buy your artwork besides simply admiring it. Link not there? Click on the pin, hit Edit, and add in your websites link.
Want to know the best part?
Then when people come across your pin, they can repin your art to their page which will already include all of the right information and have the correct link where they can buy it. Then all their followers will be able to see it and click right through to your art business!

Most, if not all social media platforms and online services like Facebook, Gmail, Instagram, and others have the option to deactivate your account just in case you need to take a little break from the platform and not necessarily close your account for good.
Pinterest provides for both deactivation and deletion options, so you can choose one based on your current situation. If you just want some time off the social network, deactivating the account is a better option as itll only hide your profile and boards from other users but keep all your data intact.

If you moved the correct pin, then your board should now show as a grid of your most recent pins.

The Art Of The Pin: When And How To Save Images
Heres a list of quick tips to get you started!
First five Pins each day are prioritized for distribution
Its also a good idea to save Pins regularly, rather than all at once. In other words, consistent, daily activity is much better than a once-a-week or once-a-day flurry of Pins.
By using a tool like , were able to schedule content out days, weeks, and even months in advance. This allows us to keep a consistent stream of Pins flowing to our boards without spamming our followers or missing out on positive Pinterest algorithm benefits.
Always include links
That means ensuring that your content includes a relevant link to the original source every single time even if the link does not lead to your own website.
*Note: Pinterest does not distribute Pins with broken links.
Lean into trends
Start saving Pins about upcoming trends, seasonal events, or holidays around 45 days in advance. Then keep adding more ideas daily and maintain a steady pace of content.
For example, Cristin Cooper // The Southern Style Guide shared a variety of birthday party themed Pins leading up to the summer season here in the United States:
Linking multiple Pins to the same destination
When doing so, just make sure to add specific descriptions for each Pin. This will greatly help to improve your SEO.
Save to the most relevant board first
In other words, make sure the Pin and board are a perfect match.
The Art Of The Pin: Images
Use unique, eye-catching images
Images that stand out, are colorful, unique, and say something specific about what you have to offer will give you a major edge compared to other content on the platform.
Use high-resolution, uncluttered images
Youll also want to steer clear of cluttered images.
According to Pinterest, , so check out your Pin on mobile to make sure the message is easy to digest
Use a vertical aspect ratio
As Pinners and marketers know, Pins are organized into columns. Meaning that vertical images take up more space and stand out more in the feed.
The ideal aspect ratio for a vertical Pin is 2:3600px wide x 900px high.
Heres a great example from the Social Media Examiner Pinterest account:
Square images 600px wide x 600px tall can work well, too!
Consider adding a little copy
But as we mentioned before, try to keep the copy simple and dont let it clutter the overall image.
Add tasteful branding
To convey credibility, build a brand, and help people understand who or where the Pin is coming from, try including your product, packaging, or logo in your image.
Heres an example of an infographic we created to promote our blog post on Pinterest including the Buffer logo directly at the top:
Pro-Tip: Avoid logo placement in the corners of the Pin, or it will get covered up by our visual search icon.
Use multiple images
It also works well for outfit, roundup, and before/after Pins!

Should You Have Personal Boards On Your Business Account
Theres some controversy about this. Some people say yes. They even recommend going into your Pinterest analytics and making boards on other interests of your audience even if theyre not your interests.
Please, dont do that. Do you really want to keep pinning to a board of things youre not interested in?
Feel free to use Audience Insights to create more boards that are relevant to your business though particularly if you have your own content to save there. Even Pinterest now tells us to focus on saving your own content.
There is a slight chance youll attract some members of your target market this way but much more likely, if you attract anyone, theyll be people who arent.
As a Pinner whos had a somewhat-business-related Pin go viral , I can tell you it caused me a huge waste of time and money.
Even though that Pin was vaguely related to my business , I probably got fewer than 5 people on my business email list from that viral Pin.
I spent a ton of time making a content upgrade for that blog post, set up an email list for it, tried to figure out a way to monetize
I did get thousands of people to sign up to that list . So that cost me plenty.
I eventually closed that list because I was wasting too much time on it, and making no money.
Now imagine if Id made a board about knitting? Which was recommended to me.
If you make baby clothes, and you suddenly came out with a line of adult hair care products, thats diluting your brand.
