How To Print Svg Files
The easiest way to print SVG files is to view and print them directly using a web browser . Simply Right click on the SVG image and then select Open image in new tab. Once opened in a new tab, resize and print the image using either Step 3, 4 or 5 above.
The video below covers resizing and printing SVG images using Google Chrome, Adobe Photoshop, and Inkscape.
You can also save SVG files to your computer or mobile device. Once saved, you can then open these files using a web browser and print them.

How To Assemble A Pdf Pattern
Some patterns will have page numbers, some will have marks in the margin and some may have guides where the pages should be lined up. You will find a lot of variety, but basically the process is the same. It’s simply like putting together a jigsaw except at least you already have your pieces in the right order.
Most patterns will give you a picture of what your finished jigsaw will look like.
In this example, you can see there are 20 pages in total, 5 per row. So start by getting together sheets 1 to 5 for your top row.
Most patterns will overlap one sheet with the other to help with lining up, and usually have an unprinted margin around the outside. You’ll need to get rid of this margin on either the left or right and the top or bottom. I like to cut off the left hand side of my sheets and the top. So start with this.
Lie out sheet 1. Take sheet 2 and cut off the left hand margin. There may be a line to follow, or guides. In my most recently patterns, I’ve been including a grey piece of pie’ which indicates the corners of each sheet. When all 4 pieces of pie are assembled at the corners, you get a circle where they all meet. If you aren’t sure where to cut, draw a line between the pieces of pie!
When you have sheet 2 in place, cut off the left margin on sheet 3, stick that in place and repeat for 4 and 5 and the top row is ready.
Once all the sheets are stuck, you can go over with some tape for a more permanent finish.

How To Edit Cricut Patterns
Click the word Filter first. This allows you to choose a color family and then it will only show you that family. Its nice when you are only looking for one color.
Now click Edit Pattern to the left of the word Filter. This is what you will see.
Use the slide bar to scale your image up or down. I dont use the Horizontal or Vertical much, but I do use the rotate and flip. You can rotate your Cricut pattern so it looks a bit different.
It edits the pattern in real time, so once you are happy with it just click the X in the top right corner to get out of there. You can go back and edit it as much as you want.

Before You Print The Test Square
Before you waste all of your ink and paper on a pattern that comes out the wrong size, you should always start by looking for the test square. Often this will be on page 1 of the pattern, but it can be elsewhere if there wasn’t space. Preview through the pattern sheets until you find the test square. Print ONLY that sheet first.
Check the measurement on the test square before printing the other pages. If it’s out’, then recheck your print settings before trying again. Only when your test square is correct should you print out all the sheets.
Important your pattern pages will print out in the order in which they should be taped together so don’t mix them up. Let the whole lot print, then remove from the printer as a batch.

Dos And Donts Of Pdf Pattern Printing
- Use Adobe Reader to view/print, not Mac Preview, your internet browser or the version of Adobe Reader that comes with Windows.
- Print the page with the test square and measure carefully before printing the whole pattern. THIS IS IMPORTANT. If the square is 1/8 off and its a 2 square that means a pattern piece that is 8 inches long will suddenly be 1/2 longer or shorter and that can be a whole size different! Longer/wider pattern pieces will be off even more.
- Read the printing instructions in your pattern
- Play with FitScaleSelect by File Size and Auto-Rotate and Center to get the right size test square. These settings may vary depending on your combination of printer and pattern.
- Write down settings for future reference
- Use Mac Preview, your internet browser or the Adobe Reader that comes with Windows 8 to print. I have personally printed from Mac Preview and seen every page be off by a different amount! And if you click print straight from the internet browser or your email, you may even end up with missing lines or that arent on the actual pattern. Always download the pattern, then open in Adobe Reader.
- Print the whole pattern before measuring the test square
- Assume that because you used the same settings as you used another time the pattern is correct. ALWAYS MEASURE THE TEST SQUARE.
Hopefully these tips will help you with PDF printing frustration and help with getting a perfect fitting garment from the pattern.

How To Use The Print Friendly Button
First, you need to find the Print Friendly button. Its at the bottom of each post on Moogly even the ones you wouldnt necessarily want to print. Heres where to find it on a recent free pattern. Its below the social share buttons, and above the related posts.
Now you have several options. Look at the bar across the top you can Print, create a PDF, Email it to someone, change the Text size, Remove all the images, or Undo .
Also, notice how there is a section thats highlighted in yellow and says Click to delete? Thats a great way to pare down the pages that you want to print. A lot of times there are chatty bits, extra photos, step by step guides, or other parts of the blog post that you wont want to print. Just click on the parts you dont want to print out, and use the Undo button if you click on something you meant to keep.
Once youve got it looking the way you want it, you can hit the Print button! What shows up next will depend on your computer, operating system, and browser. But it should be easy to print from there! No ads, no comments, just the parts of the pattern you want.
Ta-da! The PDF is ready to download. Click on the button and it will download straight to your computer! Where it will actually be on your computer depends on how you have your computer set up. Most likely its in your Downloads file. Check your Recent Downloads if you cant seem to find it its there somewhere!

How To Print One Size
A simple and quick tutorial on how to print only one size from your Isnt that Sew PDF Patterns.
Open the pattern file in Adobe Reader, you can download it for free HERE. If you already have Adobe Reader, make sure your running the most current version. If not, youll need to update it. Next, click the layers icon on the left side of the screen. It looks like a stack of paper.
All of the layers should now be visible. You can turn off any size layers that you do not need. Simply click the little eyeball icon to turn layers on and off. DO NOT turn of the artboards or markings layer or you will loose all of the vital information for assembling your pattern, as well as all of the pattern markings.
Once you have only the layers activated that you want to print, go to File> Print.
Is The Moogly Print Friendly Button Not Working
Shoot! Its an external plugin I cant control when they do updates and maintenance, and I cant fix their glitches. But nine times out of ten, even when the button isnt working, opening Print Friendly in a second tab will work. If that fails, there are other options: you can highlight and right click to Print on some browsers, you can copy and paste Moogly blog posts into a word processing document, or you can get the CleanPrint Plugin for Chrome.
