After: How I Make Money With Mediavine Using Ads
I officially became a member of Mediavine on August 17. As you can see below, I was able to make $348.39 in 9 days !
In a day with 1,800 page views, I would make ~$25 per day with Mediavine. There was even one time where I made $71 in a day when I reached 4,000 daily page views!
UPDATE: Monthly earnings are volatile, but it surprises me that I make over $4,000 per month just with display advertising alone. It doesnt even include the other ways I make money with my blog.
Because of the results that I was seeing with this blog, Finsavvy Panda, I started a second blog to replicate my traffic results, and here is proof that I am earning IN ADDITION to this blog here by purely monetizing with display ads $4,643.71. Again, this doesnt include the other methods I use to make money with my blog:
Pin More Often And Space Out Your Pins
Weve gone from pinning once or twice a day to pinning 10 times per day.
As a result,
Courtney did some amazing research to dig up the recommended best frequencies for pinning. She found that a schedule between five and 30 pins per day is best.
A few things to consider with a strategy of pinning more:
- Scheduling ahead of time has made things infinitely easier for us. We can go through batches of finding and discovering great content to share with our Pinterest friends, and we can place it into a schedule so that its spaced out over a few days. This helps with a consistent volume of Pinterest content to share.
- Spacing out your pins is hugely helpful for your audience. Instead of folks seeing 10 pins all in a row from us about social media tips, these pins can arrive at Pinterest in a queued schedule, over time, to avoid any bursts of content.

Try Different Pin Formats
Mix it up! Pin a video encouraging Pinners to shop at your e-commerce store or try adding multiple photos to a Pin to create a carousel.
For example, Nike uses video to promote its products:
And carousels to show a variety of products in one Pin:
But even though 80% of Pinners discover a new brand or product on Pinterest, think beyond shopping and explicitly promoting your brand.
For example, Nespresso pins step-by-step content to engage Pinners with its brand:

Creating A Pin With Multiple Images:
The article also introduced me to a few other tools that I definitely will be using. The one I have already tried out is Pin Them All.
My only complaint with the site is that the resulting pin is linked to their website, not the original source. Im happy to credit their site for helping me create the pin, but that is handled through the caption with their website address that is automatically created.
My solution is to create the pins using Pin Them All, then immediately open the pin on the Pinterest website and edit the website source.
Here is a pin Ive already created Baked Whole Wheat Pancake Squares recipe .
I have 2 other suggestions for Pin Them All if they end up reading this article.
Connect Instagram And Test Your Trigger

First, you’ll need to set up your triggerthe event that starts your Zap. Once you’re in the Zap editor, search for and select as your trigger app and New Media Posted in My Account as the trigger event. Click Continue.
Next, click on Connect a New Account to sign in to Instagram and give Zapier permission to access your account. When you’re done, click Continue.
For each app you connect, Zapier will ask for a general set of permissions which allows you to be flexible with your Zaps. The only actions Zapier takes on your app accounts are those a given Zap needs to accomplish what you’ve set up.
Now you’ll need to test your trigger. Zapier will find your most recent Instagram post and use this information to set up the rest of your Zap. Click Test trigger.
Once it’s pulled in information from your Instagram account, click Continue.

Next, prepare the description for the pin. Write attractive description that will get people to click on your Pin and save it. When people click on your pins, you get increased views. When people click on your image or video, you drive traffic to your website.
Tip: Description is limited up to 500 characters only
Consider Creating Two Pins For Each Blog Post
As I mentioned in this post, for a while I was creating two new pins for each new blog post I published.
I found this was a great way to pin more and grow my followers and traffic. If you have the time, go ahead and create two pins for each blog post, then when you publish your post, pin the first pin to a board.
Then, wait a day or two before pinning the second pin to a board. Afterward, you can schedule both pins using Tailwind!

There are five types of rich pins:

- Product pins include real-time pricing, availability and where to buy
- Recipe pins include ingredients, cooking times and serving info
- Movie pins include ratings, cast members and reviews
- Place pins include an address, phone number and map
Heres a bit about what this can help your pins look like:
Add Context To Your Content
Start by choosing an eye-catching image to get your viewers attention. Your followers should leave your social media site feeling like they have gained new information.

Create Pins With Text In Them
To create something with a text overlay, again you can use a program like Photoshop or Gimp or an online tool like Canva.
The Nester has a great tutorial on how to create Pins with text in them. One of the best tips: Test the legibility of your images before you publish.
The majority of the images we pin include textinfographics, blog graphics, book covers, etc. One of our boards that includes less text is our Travel board.
Looking at the pins from our Travel board in particular, heres the breakdown of average engagement for pins with text versus pins without:
- Pins with text: 3 repins, 1 like
- Pins without: 1 repin, 1 like
Pins with text have been our most significant sources of engagement. This could very well be unique to our niche also. We share a lot of inspiring quotes, infographics, and headlines. What have you observed with your pins?
Write Relevant And Helpful Content

Now that youve started a blog, write 5-10 blog posts related to your niche that will solve your readers problems.
Before you start writing, take a step back and figure out who your target audience is.
I always recommend choosing something you enjoy talking about.
Dont choose a topic just because you think it will make money. Sure, it may work out, but can you really keep writing about something you dont have a genuine interest in?
The last thing you want is your blog to feel like a chore.
This diagram will help you determine what you can write about while solving your readers problems.
- Passion: Im not going to tell you to quit your job and chase your passions without any financial support. But what would you do with your life if you were financially independent? I know this is tough to answer, so this free personality test is amazing and can help you figure it out as long as you answer truthfully!
- Skills: What are you good at? What do you usually get compliments on?
- : What are people searching A LOT for on Google and Pinterest? I recommend using SEMrush for some guidance. Billions of people out there want answers and solutions to their problems!
Remember that readers need your help with something. Most of them arent here to read about your problems. When they land on your page, they will subconsciously ask:
Whats in it for me?
Your ideal spot is to hit all these 3 elements !

Image Or Video Of The Pin
First, you have to have an photo or video to pin. As mentioned above, it can be from your website that is an article or blog post. So, you must create that article or blog post with images and videos first.
It can also be an article or blog post from someone elses website. This means you are going to share an image or video from that source. It is not your original work.
Of course, if you like, you can just pin an photo or video that is not from an article or blog post.
Isnt Everything Online Free
There seems to be a pervasive premise that anything you find online is free for the taking because you can.
Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, anything published online is automatically considered copyrighted by the creator photos, graphics, words, images, ALL of it. *NOTE: I am NOT an attorney. Please consult one to verify any of this info, or discuss your own content curation policy.
Heres a simple explanation:
One of the biggest mistakes that people believe is that if a work has no copyright notice, it is not copyrighted. The correct form of a copyright notice is Copyright or © by . Many people believe that if this notice is absent, they can post, use, or take any work on the Internet. In fact, everything from April 1, 1989 is copyrighted by the owner or author whether is has a notice or not. All Internet users must assume that the work is copyrighted, unless otherwise specified by the author.
Copyright rules may vary by country, and whether or not theyve agreed to the Berne Convention. But face it, someone put in the hard work of creating something a blog post, a photo, a book, an image. Thats their own intellectual property they didnt make it for you to swipe and use how you like.
So do the right thing.

A Lot Of Other Great Pins
This is kind of a trick element because it’s not technically in the pin itself, but because of the way the pin layout looks when expanded, I had to include it here. Try clicking on a pin in Pinterest — when you expand the pin, all the other pin images from the user’s board are pulled in. This gives you more opportunities to engage with your Pinterest followers all without doing a thing.

Creating A Carousel Pin
To make our own carousel pin, you need to have all the images that you want to use, ready and waiting to be uploaded at once.
When you upload your images, you will be asked if you want to make a collage or carousel. Obviously, youll select the carousel option.
Once youve chosen that, you can reorder the images and choose the links that each image should have.
You dont have to give each image a different description if you dont want to, but it will be more creative if you do.

Don’t Miss: What Does A Grey Box On Snapchat Mean
Number 1 Pin From Your Website An Image Or Video Stored On Your Computer
Go to your Pinterest Dashboard
Click on Create Pin. And the Create Pin popup appears
Add an image or video from your computer. Earlier, in the Prepare a Pin section, you would have prepared this photo or video on your computer. Click the arrow up icon to find the image or video on your computer and add to this Pin.
You can also drag and drop an photo or video into this grey box area to add it to this Pin.
Remember the Title, Description and URL that you prepared in the above Prepare a Pin section? Here is what you do with the prepared information:
From the above Title that you prepared, add the text into the Add your title field .
From the above Description you prepared, add the text to the Tell everyone what your Pin is about field
From the Destination Linkprepared above, add the URL into the Add a destination link field
Next, you have to select a board that you would like to add this pin on. At the top right corner of the Create Pin popup window, Click Select
A drop down of all the Boards you have created will appear
Choose the Board you wish to pin this image or video . And click Save.
At this time, if you would like to create a new board for this pin, you can choose the Create board button instead. Then follow the prompts to create your new board.
You will get to see your pin and details that you have added. See the screen shot below to get an idea how your pin will look like.
Accompanying Title And/or Descriptive Picture
Instead, choose an image that reflects the link’s contents. If you’re struggling to convey an abstract concept, feel free to add text to your image to describe it. The above example didn’t need that — the icons themselves conveyed what was behind the link: free downloadable icons. If you want an example of a great pin with text on it, check the one out below. Without the title on the image, the pin wouldn’t nearly be as strong — people would have no idea that this was an ebook they could download.
Moral of the story here: make sure that people know what’s inside the pin so they feel enticed to click. If you feel like the image isn’t pulling its weight on its own, add text. That little bit of text could make the difference between someone clicking on your pin or not.

Pin Fresh Content Consistently
One of the best ways to keep pinners engaged is to create new content for them to browse through on a regular basis.
The images need to catch peoples eye, and the blog posts that they link to need to be helpful as well.
Bottom line: if you want to grow your audience, you need to create content that solves problems and fills needs .
Add Title And Description

Write your video pin title and description. The title must accurately state what your video is about. Search engine optimized descriptions should be no more than 500 characters maximum. If you are pinning more than one video, write additional text for each video explaining to viewers what each video on the pin is about.
