    Make Your Pins Stand Out

When it comes to making your Pins stand out, most people give you the same advice â use bright colors that get peopleâs attention.

The reason is that if everyone is using bright colors on their Pins, then no one will stand out.

A better technique is to look at how the Pin designs of bloggers in your niche look like and create something different.

For example, if youâre in the fitness niche and see that all the Pins have vivid colors, you can use earth tone color combinations to stand out.

On the other hand, if you see that everyoneâs using earth tone colors, you could then go for something more vivid.

    Previous Pin Size Updates

Pins longer than 2:3 will have to earn their right to be seen. If you take twice up as much height as a 2:3 Pin, youll need twice as much engagement to get into the Smart Feed as often.

Use high-quality, vertical images that will stand out in peoples feeds. We recommend a 2:3 aspect ratio . Other ratios may cause your Pin to truncate, or may negatively impact performance.

Yet some bloggers say long Pin sizes still work best for them! And I find theyre still not cropped in the feed.

Follow And Engage With Popular Boards

If you are commenting on these popular pins, your brand name will be seen by the huge number of people who follow those boards.

Tip! Its a good idea to follow popular boards because they are relevant to your industry and business as opposed to just because they are the most popular. If your business has literally nothing to do with wedding fashion, you can do yourself a favor and follow the boards that have a following closer to yours. Those are the people you want to connect with anyway.

intended to add greater detail and information on the pins themselves. Think of them as or . Theyre designed to make the pinning experience better for pinners and more beneficial for those being pinned.

There are five types of rich pins:

    • Recipe pins include ingredients, cooking times and serving info
    • Movie pins include ratings, cast members and reviews
    • Place pins include an address, phone number and map

Heres a bit about what this can help your pins look like:

Ok So What Size Should I Make My Pins Already

Theres not ONE specific size you must follow.

I still have infographics in my top 10 Pins for Impressions, Clicks, and Saves.

BUT I can no longer say that they outperform all others for me.

But in 2020, almost all of the infographics driving traffic are 2:3 proportion, or close to it.

Pins taller than 2:3 proportion must provide additional value. DO NOT stretch out a boring, text-based Pin to make a space-hogging Giraffe Pin.

Infographics and helpful multi-photo Pins should continue to perform, but I recommend split testing against shorter versions.

    Use a vertical aspect ratio

As Pinners and marketers know, Pins are organized into columns. Meaning that vertical images take up more space and stand out more in the feed.

The ideal aspect ratio for a vertical Pin is 2:3600px wide x 900px high.

Heres a great example from the Social Media Examiner Pinterest account:

Square images 600px wide x 600px tall can work well, too!

    Consider adding a little copy

But as we mentioned before, try to keep the copy simple and dont let it clutter the overall image.

    Add tasteful branding

To convey credibility, build a brand, and help people understand who or where the Pin is coming from, try including your product, packaging, or logo in your image.

Heres an example of an infographic we created to promote our blog post on Pinterest including the Buffer logo directly at the top:

Pro-Tip: Avoid logo placement in the corners of the Pin, or it will get covered up by our visual search icon.

    Use multiple images

It also works well for outfit, roundup, and before/after Pins!

Get rid of them by right-clicking the Pin It button, selecting Options, and then checking “Hide hovering Pin it buttons,” to say bye-bye to these flittering little guys.
