Create And Share Content
Most LinkedIn content is business and industry-focused. So, share or even create industry-relevant content that your network will value. It doesnt have to be long-form. It can be simple things that your networks or groups might be interested in. Or you can create and share content about you or your company, as long as it helps others in a meaningful way.
For example, instead of talking about how you just landed a new client, talk about the struggles and challenges you faced while selling to this client. Explain how you overcame their objections, what you learned from the experience, and how others can learn from your mistakes.
Get Your Resume Ready
Before you start looking for jobs and completing online job applications, you’ll need an updated version of your resume ready to upload. You may also need a cover letter to apply for some jobs.
Make sure your resume includes your current contact information and work history. Save your resume as yournameresume.doc, rather than with a generic file name like “resume.” This way, the hiring manager will connect you with the resume when they review it. Here’s how to name your resume and cover letter.
Have a basic cover letter ready that you can customize for each job you apply to. You should always include a cover letter when applying for a job unless the job listing specifically says not to.
Some sites let you upload an existing resume from Microsoft Word on your computer with the click of a button. Sometimes you will be asked to convert the document to a PDF or other kind of file. On other sites, you may need to copy and paste your resume into an online profile or use a resume builder that is incorporated into the job application system.

What You Need To Apply

Also, as part of the job application process, you may need to take an online employment test and be prepared to provide employment references.
How Big Should Your Network Be
How many people do you need in your to make it an effective tool for job searching and career networking? The short answer is, it depends. Look For An Existing Connection Before Reaching Out
Before sending any cold outreach, look for any existing connections that you may have. If you have mutual connections, you can ask for an introduction and boost your chances of successfully starting a conversation with this new person!
You can use LinkedIn to see if youre connected to some of the same people as the other person .
Or if youre not comfortable asking for an introduction, you can still reach out and say: Hi Dan. I saw we both worked with James Anderson back at Verizon in 2018. How are you? I had a question about
Simply mentioning a name or a company that you both worked at will often improve your odds of hearing back from them.
You can also mention other common pieces in your background, such as attending the same university.
However, if you cant find any connection at all, then you can use the message templates/samples that are coming up in this article and reach out completely cold. You can still succeed like that.
How To Use Linkedin Easy Apply To Get Interviews
The brutal truth of job searching is this:
If you want to find a job fast, you need to apply for a high number of jobs.
Companies post job openings and then change their mind. Or they change the requirements. Or they decide to hold off for a month, which turns into three months or forever.
The bottom line is: There are a million things can go wrong, with no relation to your skill or how much you prepare to ace the interview. So you need to apply to a lot of employers if you want to get hired quickly.
But how can we send out a high volume of applications quickly and easily? Thats where LinkedIn Easy Apply comes in.
Using this specific feature when applying for jobs on LinkedIn is one of the best ways to get a high number of applications out quickly.

Keep It Friendly But Professional
In many ways, your Linkedin network is no different than a real-life network. However, engaging with and supporting that network is different than how you engage and support your network on other forms of social media.
For example, its fine to publicly share your well-wishes about a promotion, award, or new project on LinkedIn. But, if you want to share a more personal thought , those wishes are better kept to private messaging or other social outlets.
Theres nothing wrong with wishing someone a happy birthday, but it may not be something you should broadcast to your network. And, unless you know the person very well, it may be best to skip the birthday wish entirely. While you may mean well, it can be off-putting for some people to receive a birthday wish from someone they dont really know.
I Recommend Including A Value
Each of the application emails I received contained a maximum of 14 lines of information on the applicants current experience, past experience, highlights and education. I couldnt tell a rhyme or reason to how many positions or lines of text they decided to include in each section.
For instance, some applicants had 8+ past positions listed but LinkedIn chose to only include the first 5. For others, they may have had 8 lines of content in the current experience section but LinkedIn only included the first 4 lines.
The most recent positions are listed first and then go in reverse chronological order.
Possibly my favorite part of the candidate snapshot email is the section called Highlight.

Use Your Summary Wisely
Your summary or About section is where you can really show your personality and share your story, Hallow says. And it doesnt need to be complicated.
Heres how you might structure it:
- Introduce yourself. Who are you as a professional and what do you do? What value do you bring to the organizations you work for?
- Highlight your key skills, experiences, and achievements in paragraph form or a bulleted list.
- Talk about who you are outside of work. This is optional, but you never know which of your interests might resonate with a recruiter, future employer, or professional connection.
- by asking them to connect with you to discuss growth marketing, contact you about job or speaking opportunities, or do whatever youre currently looking to get from your LinkedIn profile.
Even if you follow this structure, there are infinite ways to write your summary. The About section is very personal, Wasserman says. Use the first person, and dont be afraid to talk about what really matters to you in your career.
Use Job Search Keywords
When you look for jobs online, the most effective way to search is to use job keywords to find jobs in the career fields and industries you are interested in.
Keywords can be more effective than using the predefined search options in the job banks because they search the entire listing for the keyword that you use.
Create a list of job search keywords that reflect your job interests, including the location where you want to work, type of position, industry, etc. Also, review these lists of skills for resumes so that you can match your skills to the job requirements.

Is The Linkedin #opentowork Setting 100% Confidential
Bear in mind that although LinkedIn makes an effort to keep your job search discreet, it does mention that privacy is not absolutely guaranteed:
To protect your privacy, we take steps to prevent LinkedIn Recruiter users who work at your company and related companies from seeing your shared career interests, but we cant guarantee complete privacy.
Write Your Work Experience In Terms Of Results/accomplishments
Next, make sure your previous work is in bullet format and easy to read.
You can put a one- or two-sentence description of each role before diving into bullet points, but avoid big blocks of text and long paragraphs.
These tend to get skimmed over, and you want your LinkedIn to get READ. So this is important.
Then, in your bullets, make sure youre focused on detailed results and accomplishments. Put metrics, data, and numbers whenever possible.
For example, dont just say, responsible for managing customer questions and requests.
Say, successfully handled 100+ customer requests per week with a 99% customer satisfaction rating
Thats going to make your bullets stand out a LOT more and make employers want to interview you more, because youre showing the exact type of results youll be able to get them.
You should be doing this with your resume bullet points, too.

When To Send A Message
Depending on the company, it may take some time for your application to be processed.
If it’s a small employer and you’re sending your resume by email, it’s fine to follow up shortly after you have sent it.
If it’s a large company, you’ll probably apply through an online applicant tracking system. In that case, wait until a day or so after you have put in your application so it will have a chance to get into the system and to the hiring manager.
Don’t worry if you don’t hear back. Not everyone checks their LinkedIn messages frequently. Some people don’t bother at all. If you don’t get a response, it doesn’t mean you’re not being considered for the job.
Understanding The Different Job Application Options
On your main page, youll see a Jobs icon in the top navigation bar. Click this to get a list of jobs. You can search based on a variety of parameters including Title, Skill, Company and location .
You can also save jobs you want to consider and keep a record of jobs youve applied for already. Try searching for a job title, skill or company to see what the results look like.
When youre ready to apply, there are two options: Apply or Easy Apply. The Easy Apply button is a facility for jobs posted on LinkedIn and allows you to attach a message and your CV. The Apply button that takes you to the external web page where the job is listed where you can find the application details.

Linkedin Is Not A Traditional Social Network
While its true that LinkedIn is a form of social media, LinkedIn is a professional networking tool. That means that everything you do on LinkedIn is friendly, cordial, and professional.
So, as much as you might want to share that Mondays. Am I right? meme or a picture of your toes at the beach, dont. Save the sandy vacation pics for Facebook and Instagram, and keep LinkedIn strictly for professional, work-related content.
Linkedin Easy Apply Is The Best Way To Send Out A Lot Of Applications To High
Job searching isnt all about volume. You should be networking, doing thorough research to find companies to apply to, etc.
But volume does help in your job hunt, for reasons mentioned in the intro of this article.
And LinkedIn Easy Apply is the best way to add that volume to your job hunt without having to write a cover letter, fill in pages and pages of online info, etc.
The companies that post jobs on LinkedIn tend to be high-quality and reputable, too, and since LinkedIn is such a large job search site, you can do almost all of your volume applying through LinkedIn if you want. .

Not sure if your online applications are getting past ATS and to a recruiters desk?
Applicant Tracking Systems are the frustrating software programs used by most mid-size to large corporations to narrow down applicants to the most qualified candidates. This software is looking at the keywords, years of experience, and related achievements found in your resume or application which can make it difficult for you to move forward in the hiring process if youre less qualified than other applicants.
Luckily, employers realize that your resume isnt always the best representation of the value you offer. In fact, over 90% of recruiters are primarily using LinkedIn to search for and reach out to candidates. LinkedIn profile can offer social proof of your abilities with skills endorsements and credibility-boosting Recommendations linked to other users profiles. LinkedIn can also transform job seekers into referrals .
LinkedIn started as a professional networking site but has since evolved into a one-stop-shop for job seekers. Its job board can provide more helpful information for job seekers than Indeed or Monster such as how many applicants have already applied, how well you match the job based on the skills found in your profile, and how to contact the person who posted the job if you have any questions.
