Reasons Why You May Remove A Linkedin Connection
Now you may have your own reasons for removing a LinkedIn connection but heres a few reasons Ive experienced.
How To Disconnect Linkedin From Gmail So It Stops Data
While browsing LinkedIn today, I noticed in my activity feed that it knew I sent an email to my girlfriend two minutes ago. That made me suddenly realize that by authorizing LinkedIn to connect to my Gmail account, LinkedIn is able to permanently record the names and dates of everyone I email and everyone that emails me, whether or not they used LinkedIn. It even manages to find their Twitter and Facebook profiles to proactively create its own internal profiles for all of my contacts across all their social media accounts. All I had to do was click Allow Access, and they data-mined my entire life. No thank you.
Heres exactly how to fix that.
Step 1) Follow this link to view your Account Permissions in Gmail: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions?hl=en
Step 2) Find LinkedIn in the list and click on it.
Step 3) In the top right, click Revoke Access.
BONUS STEP!) Look at what other applications in that list have access to parts of your Gmail account, like your contacts and email. If you havent used it in 30 days, Revoke it.
What About Hurt Feelings
One important thing to remember is that the connections you remove will not be notified that youve just removed themwhich is probably a good thing. However they will be added to your list of contacts in case you want to re-invite them later. Of course if they look up your profile, theyll see you are no longer connected.
Take time to consider whether or not to remove a connection. For example, Im still relatively young in my career having recently graduated. Some of my connections arent focused on the same industry as I am, however as we grow up theres no telling where theyll end up and what opportunities may be passed my way in the future because of a connection I made today.
In the end, the choice is yours. But Id like to know

The problem with LinkedIn is that it has lost some of its relevance as a tool to show recruiters who you are and who knows you, since you can link up with people with whom you have never worked. I use it to promote my work by posting status updates and links. Plus, I add someone when we work on a project together or when they submit an article that I publish in my magazine Southern Pacific Review.
I am a freelancer now, but back when I was working in an office, I added many recruiters to my LinkedIn contacts. They would send me requests when they wanted to contact me. These were people who were too cheap to purchase a business account with LinkedIn. You can send an email to a contact, but to send an email to someone you do not know, you need to pay for that privilege.
LinkedIn has always made it difficult for users to find the screen to delete people. Plus, they keep changing their screen. They even changed the word contacts to connections to further confuse us.
Here is how to delete a connection now.
1.From the main LinkedIn screen, select Connections.
2.That is a drop-down menu, but you actually have to click the word Connections and not any of the drop-down items. A drop-down menu normally leads to another menu, so this is awkward.
