Convert Negativity To Positivity

LinkedIn: How to Connect Like a Pro

There are two sides constantly battling inside of us one is filled with strength and courage while the other is doubt and insecurities. Which one will you feed?

What if I mess up this speech? What if Im not funny enough? What if I forget what to say?

Its no wonder why many of us are uncomfortable giving a presentation. All we do is bring ourselves down before we got a chance to prove ourselves. This is also known as a self-fulfilling prophecy a belief that comes true because we are acting as if it already is. If you think youre incompetent, then it will eventually become true.

Motivational coaches tout that positive mantras and affirmations tend to boost your confidents for the moments that matter most. Say to yourself: Ill ace this speech and I can do it!

Take advantage of your adrenaline rush to encourage positive outcome rather than thinking of the negative what ifs.

Heres a video of Psychologist Kelly McGonigal who encourages her audience to turn stress into something positive as well as provide methods on how to cope with it:

Dont Beat Yourself Up After A Presentation

We are the hardest on ourselves and its good to be. But when you finish delivering your speech or presentation, give yourself some recognition and a pat on the back.

You managed to finish whatever you had to do and did not give up. You did not let your fears and insecurities get to you. Take a little more pride in your work and believe in yourself.

Why Reach Out To New Linkedin Connections

Reaching out to new LinkedIn connections can help your sales strategy in a number of different ways.

Lets start with the obvious. More connections = more sales opportunities.

This is a great way to meet new prospects and talk to them. You can chat them up, learn about them, and hopefully sell to them in the future.

Its also a great way to expand your secondary and tertiary network. Even if someone isnt a good sales prospect, they may know a good sales prospect. That means every new node in your network can get you one step closer to a potential sale.

Also, LinkedIn doesnt publish your number of connections anymore

But thats okay. Because the size of your network can still help you in other ways. Having more connections means youll have more mutual connections with more people, which can boost your reputation. That means a higher success rate for future connection attempts, and possibly, a higher rate of closing sales.

Very cool.

Warm Leads Are Always Preferred

As in real life, how to network on LinkedIn is all about introductions through a warm lead, or someone your target connection actually knows, who can make a personal introduction on your behalf, often leads to the greatest success. Rather than relying on a cold call or email, get in touch with the person who connects the two of you and ask him or her for a formal introduction. If your targeted user is a third-degree connection, find someone who could facilitate an introduction between you and a person who is actually connected to your targeted user.

Your eventual goal is to be introduced to your second-degree connection, who can then facilitate the introduction with your third-degree connection.

But what if there is no one that can make the introduction on your behalf? Thats when youll want to consider sending them an invitation to connect.

    People That Might Help You

LinkedIn would suggest connections only with someone you know in the early days, but things have changed a bit.

You can send an invitation to anyone you want, but you should give them a good reason to connect first.

Note:People who dont provide any value to you on LinkedIn are redundant in your contacts list, and you should delete them.

Just keep in mind that there are a couple of things you should take care of before making any outreach action. Make sure that:

    • Your LinkedIn profile is optimized
    • Youre targeting the right people
    • Youre using the advanced LinkedIn search

After filtering for people, jobs, and content in LinkedIn advanced search and targeting the people in a specific sector, you can start reaching out to them.

Should You Add A Personal Note When You Connect On Linkedin

How to Connect to someone on LinkedIn

Yes, but its not always necessary. When someone considers your LinkedIn invitation, they need to know the following:

    • Do I know you?
    • If so, how do I know you?
    • If not, whyshould I know you?
    • If I shouldnt, why do you want to know me?

In many cases, a personalized note isnt necessary to answer these questions. Your name and LinkedIn headline will often provide a full answer for your co-workers, high-touch business contacts, or industry peers.

If it doesnt, and/or clarify those questions with a personal note.

How to write a LinkedIn connection request

If youre going to write a personal note, write something useful. Dont bother sending a note that is a rewording of LinkedIns default Id like to join your LinkedIn network. For example, Hi Jon, I thought it would be a good idea if we connect! isnt an effective connection request.

Take advantage of the 300 characters available in your invitation note. Answer the questions above as best as you can and try to connect some dots by bringing up things like:

    • I noticed that were both connected to Jerri Smith. I managed Jerri at ABC Corp
    • Im glad we were able to meet and chat at XYZ Conferences happy hour last Thursday

How and why you found their profile

    • I was searching for digital marketers in the Seattle area because
    • We are both members of the LinkedIn Group Digital Marketing Seattle
    • Your comment on Jerri Smiths post about integrity in marketing got me thinking

How Do You Generate Interest And Compel People To Want To Connect On Linkedin

Crafting a LinkedIn invitation to connect with someone you dont know can be touchy. Approach someone in the wrong way, and it can ruin your chance of having the message read and responded to in the way youd hoped.

Just as you wouldnt rush up to a stranger at an in-person networking event and blurt out that youd like to pick their brain, dont rudely put yourself in front of a stranger on LinkedIn and expect them to do you a favor.

One turnoff is using only the default message Id like to add you to my professional network . The recipient probably has no idea who you are. Your message and request may be ignored.

Another offense is sending a too-long message to them. The recipient could well be someone who receives dozens of these invitations daily. Make it easy for them by keeping the message short and to the point . . . and give them a reason to WANT to connect with you.

    Mistaking Networking For Selling

Networking and selling are not the same thing. Networking can get you in front of prospects, and those prospects might become leads down the line, at which point you can definitely sell to them. But a LinkedIn connection request isnt the place for a sales pitch.

In other words: dont expect to generate a lot of responses or connections if your introductory message is all about your product and how youd like to arrange a suitable time for a demo.

    Promote Your Linkedin Profile Url

    Social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram typically give you space for a bio. Use those bio spaces as a LinkedIn connection-driving machine by encouraging contacts there to find you and connect on LinkedIn, too especially if you have a significant following on the other platform.;

Dont be afraid to promote your LinkedIn profile by posting the link in a status update, tweet, pin, video, photo, etc. This is another great way to take advantage of your presence on other social platforms. Just be sure to claim your vanity url so its easy to remember and includes important identity information or keywords.

While its not a social channel, dont forget the simplicity and outright importance of adding your LinkedIn profile link to your email signature, like this:

The Benefits Of Growing Your Network

Theres debate about how large ones LinkedIn network of connections should be. A Harvard Business Review article from 2016 argued the more connections a user has, the less valuable they become. The author says its better to have a smaller and more intimate network.

Nevertheless, there are many benefits to making more connections. Some people strive to become influencers on social media site. On sites like Twitter, this means gaining followers. On LinkedIn, its all about connections.

One benefit of more connections is itll improve your rank in search results. , the results show how many shared connections you have with the person. So the more connections you have, it increases the possibility youll move up in search rankings.

Another benefit: When you post content on LinkedIn, youll receive more views, likes, and shares if you have more connections and a more extensive network. Receiving more engagement on posts is an obvious plus.

A more expansive LinkedIn network will also:

    • Increase your profile views. As you become more active on the site, more people will view your profile. You can improve your chances of landing a job or other opportunities as you gain more profile traffic.
    • Gain more endorsements. Endorsements of your skills make you look much more credible in the eyes of recruiters and other LinkedIn users. Without enough connections, itll be harder to rack up more endorsements.

How To Increase Reach Of Your Posts Organically

Its safe to say that if your Linkedin profile looks professional, has high-quality, original content, and gets a lot of engagement from your followers, many recruiters and potential clients will believe its a strong indicator of leadership and knowledge.

If your content isnt reaching hundred or even thousands of people youre probably doing something wrong!

The main idea of this strategy is to increase your visibility on Linkedin with your content.

With Linkedin continuing to rapidly grow, it actively supports users that are creating awesome content on the platform.

    How?

It does this by boosting the posts that are getting initial traction , so that more people can see it and get value from it.

But how do we get this initial traction?

    This is how it works:

  • You install lempod chrome extension
  • You join relevant pods .
  • You add your LinkedIn post to pods youve chosen
  • And voila, you start automatically receiving likes and comments under your post
  • Later youll be able to track your progress and make adjustments to get better results for your future posts.
  • This is how it looks:

As you can see, it’s super easy!

Everything is automated, so you will be able to focus on what matters most – your Linkedin content strategy to get more reach and be noticed even more.

The best thing? Its a monthly subscription that costs only $5 per pod monthly.

So you will be able to receive automated engagement from other people and cancel any time.

Someone Who Could Use Your Product/service

This is a much harder sell. Thats because youre actually selling here. I dont recommend this for an introductory message, even if sales are your bottom-line goal; I think its much more effective to start relationships with a warm message. But Ive also heard of people using this approach and finding strong results. If you decide to go this route, try to personalize the message as much as possible and make it clear how the recipient will benefit from pursuing the connection.

To enable them to read your content and posts and share your insights with people interested in what you have to say, you can encourage them to follow you instead. Join And Participate In Groups

Commit to searching for a few new to join each month. And then make sure you engage with each group often by commenting, asking questions and liking other peoples comments.

A group is a great opportunity to do market research, post links to your updates to get more views and engage with others in your niche, as well as those who arent. When people see you in groups and interact with you over time, theyll be more likely to connect. You might even find a new client or business partner through a group.

To find groups to join, enter relevant keywords in the LinkedIn search box.

Once you find and join a group, participate by starting a discussion or asking a question. And be sure to join both big and small groups.

Also consider creating your own group. This brings you instant credibility, as people like to network with experts and other well-connected people. When people join your group, theyll likely want to connect with you, the group owner. They already know who you are and like what you have to say.
