Check And Reset Your Internet Connection
If the Twitter app doesnt have access to a stable connection, it wont fetch updates from its servers, which explains why youre not receiving notifications.
To check your networks status, run a speed test using Fast.com to measure your current speed bandwidth.
If the result shows that your internet connection is running slow, try to turn off your router for 5 to 10 seconds and restart it afterwards.
Once done, run another speed test to check if your network is now running correctly. Contact your service provider immediately if you continue to run into problems with your network.
Activity Related To You And Your Tweets
You can receive notifications when your Tweets or Retweets are Retweeted or liked, when you are mentioned in a Tweet, if you are followed by someone new, or when someone from your contacts joins Twitter. These are collected on your Notifications page.
As of June 2017, Twitter now sends a digest email referencing all your unread notifications about activity related to your account, instead of separate emails for each type and instance. This is to reduce the noise of Twitter email in your inbox.
Managing your subscription to the digest:
- Youâll receive the digest email if your settings were enabled to receive all individual activity email notification types. If you previously opted-in to receive all of the individual activity email types for notifications, you qualify for this digest email.
- Control receiving this digest by navigating to your Settings and privacy via twitter.com. From the Email notifications tab, select or deselect âEmail me when I have new notificationsâ.
Digest emails do not apply to Direct Messages. You will receive a notification email every time you receive a new message, if your settings are enabled.

For iPhone/iPad: Push the Silent/Ringer switch towards the screen till it clicks to turn off silent mode. If the orange line is visible, your phone is still in silent mode.
For Android: Press the Volume Up button at the side of your phone, to increase the ringer volume and exit silent mode.

Turn Off The Quality Filter
When scrounging through the Twitter in-app notification settings, the first option youll see is the Quality Filter. So what is it for? Does it cause your Twitter notifications not to work?
Well, its possible.
Twitter introduced this additional filter so you wont be notified by insignificant or low-quality news and content. Most of the time, this filter truly works like a charm, giving you notifications worth reading.
However, this Quality Filter can sometimes cause undesirable notification problems for users. A common issue that users encounter with this setting is their Notifications page is completely empty, despite receiving banner notifications.
Therefore, we suggest temporarily disabling this Twitter notification Quality Filter and see if that makes any difference.
