How To Upload Your Saved Photos And Videos To Snapchat
Way back in June of 2016, the Snapchat app got a major update, adding the Memories feature to the social networking service. Before the update, you were able to upload photos to Snapchat, along with videos. Those images and clips then disappeared fairly quickly, with no way to check them out after they left, unlike other services like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
The Memories feature allowed users to save any of their smartphone videos or pictures to a special section of the Snapchat app, along with any of their previous Snaps made with the app. They can use that content to help create new Snapchat Stories. Users could also send anything saved in Memories to their friends, or they can reserve anything they dont want to be seen by anyone else to a;My Eyes Only section.
You may be wondering just how you can upload photos to Snapchat Memories, along with videos. In this article, we will tell you exactly how to do just that.
How To Add Your Own Custom Background Music To Snapchat Videos
Unfortunately, adding music to Snapchat is restricted to the apps in-built library or recording an audio clip on the app itself. Suppose youve set your heart on adding your own music to Snapchat. Thats when things get trickier. There is no built-in feature that will allow you to pull music from other platforms such as Spotify or Apple Music. Plus, it becomes super cumbersome when you want to align the video to the hook of the music or do a proper edit.
This is where an online video editor like InVideo can save the day. You can create professional-quality stories by adding custom music or stock music for branded content to your Snapchat.
Heres how you can add music and edit your Snapchat stories online for free usingInVideo.
Step 1: Sign-up for a freeInVideo account if you haven’t already! Weve got more than 4,000 templates to choose from. Theres also an option to add text and music to an existing video. But if you want to do it all from scratch, simply start with the Blank Canvas option. Make sure to select the 9:16 aspect ratio for Snapchat stories. Now click on the Make a Video button
Step 2: Youll now be taken to theInVideo editor. Click on the Upload Media button or drag and drop your files to upload your video to the editor
Step 4: With the visual component done, its time to add music to your Snapchat video. Simply click on the music icon located on the left of the screen. Pick from InVideos in-built collection of music across moods, genres, sfx and more

With Great Power Comes Great Limitation
While the;Memories;feature is a gargantuan step in the right direction, it is far from flawless and omnipotent. There are a couple of caveats to using the;Memories;feature to share locally stored photos or videos to Snapchat.
- Snapchat has a 10-second limit on videos ;If you try uploading a video that is longer than 10 seconds to Snapchat using the;Memories;feature, Snapchat wont be able to successfully edit and share the entirety of the video. The application will, instead, cut that video down to a 10-second clip starting with whatever point of the video you were at while viewing its preview.
- The photos or videos you upload might not look exactly the same ;Every photo or video you upload to Snapchat using the;Memories;feature might not comply with Snapchats standards. If that happens to be the case, Snapchat will import and upload the selected photo or video while trying to keep it as close to the original as the application possibly can, but you might end up seeing a few differences between what you selected and what was ultimately shared on Snapchat. An extremely common example of this is images that were not captured directly through the Snapchat application being cropped and having black edges when they are uploaded to and shared via the social media platform.

You might notice that some of the photos and videos you decide to upload to Snapchat look different than the ones you take directly through the app. For example, some may appear cropped with black edges all around them while others might be zoomed in with the outer edges cut off. Snapchat will do its best to make your photo or video look good enough to send, but because it wasn’t taken directly through the app, it won’t necessarily look perfect.

If youve just recorded your video and havent shared it yet, you can follow these steps to save it to your Camera Roll:
If youve already shared your video with friends but forgot to save it beforehand, dont worry. You can still go back and keep it using these steps:

How To Start Uploading Your Photos And Videos
To upload something from your device, you have to use the;Memories feature. You can make edits to images in the SnapChat app. If you’re sending a video, you can trim it within Snapchat, disable sound, add text, and draw over it before you send it.
In Memories you should see three tab: Snaps, Camera Roll and My Eyes Only. Tap Camera Roll to switch to the correct tab.
Make optional edits to your photo or video using the tools that appear for text, emoji, drawings, filters or cut-and-paste edits.
You won’t be able to apply filters with Bitmoji or animations since the photo or video was taken outside of the Snapchat app. You should, however, be able to at least use one of the many tinted filters.
When you’re finished making edits, tap Done and then optionally save the image using the prompts that appear.
Creating A Custom Story
The final Stories feature worth covering is one of the newest additions. This past Spring, Snapchat added custom stories to your app, allowing you to create specific stories for events you want to share with a specific group or selection of people. Basically, you can use this to make sure only a certain group of people see your story. For example, if youre at an event you only want to share with specific friends or colleagues, you can select certain contacts from your friend group and limit the rest of your connections from seeing that story.
Alternatively, you can use a geofenced area to share your story with anyone, whether youre friends with them or not, as long as theyre in your fenced off area. Basically, this means your stories become public attractions for anyone at your event to look at. For example, if youre at someones birthday party or graduation party, you can celebrate with everyone there, whether youve made connections with the people around you or not. This also allows friends of friends to contribute, so that nearby neighbors arent posting random stories unless they know of someone at your event.
The story will appear as a featured story under your own story but above the postings of your friends. To watch your custom story, tap on the menu just as you would with anyone elses posts.
