Finding The Right Keywords
When curating your list of keywords, follow these two important principles:
Where to start?
Log into your Pinterest account, click on the top search bar, and type in one topic that you blog about and have a Pinterest board for.
In the Description box, type in your new keywords. Once added, simply click save and your boards are now optimized with keywords. Now simply repeat this process for every other board you have.
Install And Activate The Plugin
Before you can add a Pin It button to your images, you first need to install and activate the plugin. Begin by clicking on Plugins and selecting the Add New option on the left-hand admin panel.
Use the available search field and go ahead and search the plugin by name. When you see it pop up, install and activate it right from the dashboard.
Pin Fresh Content Consistently
One of the best ways to keep pinners engaged is to create new content for them to browse through on a regular basis.
The images need to catch peoples eye, and the blog posts that they link to need to be helpful as well.
Bottom line: if you want to grow your audience, you need to create content that solves problems and fills needs .

Include A Call To Action
If you want people to take the next step with you, then tell them!
Dont assume your Pinterest followers know what action to take. Include a — and make sure its crystal clear.
Would you like your to repin or click-through to your product? Put that in the description or add it as a banner across your image.
Too often businesses leave this key piece out, shying away from the opportunity to direct a potential client or buyer. Dont fall into that trap.
This pin from DIY Ready is enticing for 2 reasons:
One more important note: whatever you decide to include as a call to action, avoid using too many words.
Wordy descriptions can discourage or muddy the main message in your image.
Test Your Zap And Turn It On
You can send a test photo to Pinterest by clicking any of the testing buttons. You can click Skip Test if you don’t want to test your Zap, but we highly recommend testing to make sure your Pinterest pin is configured how you like.
Make sure the test worked, then turn on your Zap.

Don’t Miss: What Is The Symbol For Snapchat
Are They Useful And Should You Use Them
Yes. Hashtags are useful, and you should incorporate them in your descriptions as it will bring more traffic to your pins and make them search-friendly.
Hashtags on Pinterest arent as uncompromising as that . The feature seems broken or unpolished in many ways.
For starters, if you perform two searches, one without a hashtag and one with a hashtag, the results are more relevant in the former. That could be because of two reasons. First, people use hashtags aimlessly. Secondly, very few people use hashtags.
Furthermore, sometimes hashtags return non-hashtagged results too matching the content based on related keywords. On the bright side, its helpful as your pins without hashtags will reach more people.
Using Keywords In Your Pin Captions
When writing captions for my pins, I follow this formula:
- Part 1: The blog post title
- Part 2: A short description
- Part 3: Two to three relevant hashtags
Heres one of my examples:

Add Your New Picture To Pintrest
I don’t know why but Pintrest will only allow you to add 1 picture per pin. If you don’t know, “a pin” is a folder in which a specific topic is made. Ex. “Traps and Snares”.To get around this, now add your new picture to your account. Now add a brief description and chose your pin. Once you pick the pinned topic, your new picture will show up as the combined picture. I hope you’ve learned something today. I did! Peace! 🙂

Write your video pin title and description. The title must accurately state what your video is about. Search engine optimized descriptions should be no more than 500 characters maximum. If you are pinning more than one video, write additional text for each video explaining to viewers what each video on the pin is about.

Choose Your Words Wisely
If you want to get seen, you need to stand out.
So make your images easy to scan, click & repin.
Follow these tips:
a. Speak Your Followers Language
Do you know who youre targeting?
Do you know the language they use to talk about their favorite topics?
If you speak their language, using their diction & vocabulary, then you’re much more likely to connect with them and get their attention.
Do your homework! Get inside the head of your followers and try to speak their language — but don’t use a bunch of mindless industry jargon.
No one wants to be talked to or through. Keep your language professional, but conversational.
b. Make Your Text Easy to Read
Make sure you create an image with text thats easy to read & understand.
It can be tempting to experiment with fancy fonts, but I would caution you on the use of many handwritten or calligraphy fonts. Many can be difficult to read.
The same goes for typeface. Regular, Bold, & Italic all have their place, but need to be used in the right setting.
They can either present a beautiful & stunning design or a muddled mess.
Take a look at for a perfect example of a balanced & branded design.
c. Create Value
Theres no need to reinvent the wheel. You have valuable content sitting at your fingertips.
Pull a quote from an evergreen blog article or create a series of images that highlight specific points from an email to your list.
Always think value proposition & solution when creating your pin images.

A Lot Of Other Great Pins
This is kind of a trick element because it’s not technically in the pin itself, but because of the way the pin layout looks when expanded, I had to include it here. Try clicking on a pin in Pinterest — when you expand the pin, all the other pin images from the user’s board are pulled in. This gives you more opportunities to engage with your Pinterest followers all without doing a thing.

What Do You Do If Youre Not A Blogger And A Blog You Love Doesnt Have This Feature
Great news! If you love this feature but visit a blog that doesnt have it, theres an easy solution. If you use Firefox or Chrome, you can install a plugin where all you have to do is Right-Click on any image to Pin it.
As you can see in the image above, the Chrome plugin automatically fills in the description box with the post title and the name of the blog. I love this! With the Firefox plugin, the description box is blank. Boo!
If you use Safari or Internet Explorer, Im afraid I couldnt find a plugin for this trick. If you know of one, please feel free to leave it in the comments! However, you can always install the Pin It toolbar button at the top of your screen.

Tips For Your Pin Design:
1. Use a big, bold font thats easy to see on mobile devices.
2. Make sure you use a vertical image size. 1000 x 1500 seems to be the sweet spot.
3. Include your website address somewhere on the pin. It helps with branding and also creates a watermark to help protect your work for theft.

Create Your First Pin And Board
Now its time for you to create your first pin . The anatomy of a pin can be broken down into several parts:
Visual asset: This is what youll be pinning, whether its a video, graphic, or image. You can drag and drop or click the open space to upload directly from your computer or device. The platform recommends that images are high quality, use the .jpg format, and are less than 32 MB. For videos, they recommend .mp4 files that are less than 2 GB.
Title: Your pin title can be 100 characters long, but only the first 30 characters will show up before it is cut off in pinners feeds. Its best to keep it under the 30-character markor to include the most important information first. You can also take advantage of emoji, as these only take up 1 character but tell viewers a lot.
Description: A description of a pin can be 500 characters, which is a good amount of space to explain whatever it is that youre pinning. Again, however, the description will be truncated after a certain character limit, so a pinner has to click See more to view the rest. So be sure to make those first couple of sentences count!
Destination link: Where do you want pinners to visit when theyve seen your pin?
Publishing time: You can choose to publish a pin now or at a later date. Scheduling posts for later can be a great way to stay organized and ensure that your account is actively publishing content for the next couple of days .
