b. Fill Out the Description

Have your ever clicked repin only to find there was a period in the description — and nothing else?!

Dont make this mistake.

Take the time to complete your description. Give details about the content theyll find on the other side of that image.

For example, which of these would make you more likely to click it?

Or this:

Pin Fresh Content Consistently

One of the best ways to keep pinners engaged is to create new content for them to browse through on a regular basis.

The images need to catch peoples eye, and the blog posts that they link to need to be helpful as well.

Bottom line: if you want to grow your audience, you need to create content that solves problems and fills needs .

Try Different Pin Formats

Mix it up! Pin a video encouraging Pinners to shop at your e-commerce store or try adding multiple photos to a Pin to create a carousel.

For example, Nike uses video to promote its products:

And carousels to show a variety of products in one Pin:

But even though 80% of Pinners discover a new brand or product on Pinterest, think beyond shopping and explicitly promoting your brand.

Add Context To Your Content

Your should help tell the story of your article, recipe, or craft that youre sharing. The image is a breadcrumb leading to the main meal, and people dont want a surprise when they get there.

Adding a text overlay to your image can help add context. Make sure that your font is easy to read and that theres enough contrast for the text to be read easily. When adding text, think about how it will educate and inspire people this isnt the place for a pushy call to action.

Here’s how it works:

  • Click on the Use this Zap button to get started.

Boards are collections of pins that are selected by a user, or a community of users. They are usually assembled around a theme, central idea, or visual connection. Some contain a wide variety of content, including links to pictures, blog posts, recipes, articles, videos, and many other things.

Think of it as multimedia scrapbooking on the internet.

The allure of these boards is in how they are displayed on the page. Thereâs something oddly intriguing and satisfying about the way that the content is compiled. For many, itâs a source of inspiration.

You canât help but let your eyes, and thoughts, wander from image to image across the board. It can help spark ideas or put you in a certain mood.

Try making a board out of your Instagram photos with this in mind. Group them by their aesthetics or subject matter. Feel free to incorporate other usersâ content into your board if it feels like a good fit.

An effective board will capture the viewerâs imagination and encourage them to seek out the sources of their favorite pins.

Creating A Pin With Multiple Images:

How to Post Photos on Pinterest (Quick & Easy)

The article also introduced me to a few other tools that I definitely will be using. The one I have already tried out is Pin Them All.

My only complaint with the site is that the resulting pin is linked to their website, not the original source. Im happy to credit their site for helping me create the pin, but that is handled through the caption with their website address that is automatically created.

My solution is to create the pins using Pin Them All, then immediately open the pin on the Pinterest website and edit the website source.

Here is a pin Ive already created Baked Whole Wheat Pancake Squares recipe .

I have 2 other suggestions for Pin Them All if they end up reading this article.

  • Let users rearrange the order of the pictures.
  • Find a way to make pictures the same size by adding a cropping tool that overlays on each picture similar to the cropping square in Instagram.

    Boards And Board Types

Think of Pinterest boards as digital mood boards. Use boards to save, collect and organize your Pins. Many use boards to group Pins according to a certain theme or topic. For example, you might create a board around the planning of a product launch event, for seasonal content, or for wedding inspiration.

    Group boards

Group boards are the same as regular boards, except more than one person can add content. This format is ideal for marketers looking to share ideas or plans with their team, as anyone can contribute.

    Secret boards

A secret board can only be seen by its creator and invited collaborators. When you create one, youll see a lock symbol beside the board name. These are useful for planning you dont want to be public secret boards wont appear in the home feed, in search, or anywhere publicly on Pinterest.

    Protected boards

Similar to secret boards, protected boards live at the bottom of your Pinterest profile and only you can see them. However, the Pins on these protected boards can be seen across Pinterest if a Pinner has a direct link.

Connect Instagram And Test Your Trigger

First, you’ll need to set up your triggerthe event that starts your Zap. Once you’re in the Zap editor, search for and select as your trigger app and New Media Posted in My Account as the trigger event. Click Continue.

Next, click on Connect a New Account to sign in to Instagram and give Zapier permission to access your account. When you’re done, click Continue.

For each app you connect, Zapier will ask for a general set of permissions which allows you to be flexible with your Zaps. The only actions Zapier takes on your app accounts are those a given Zap needs to accomplish what you’ve set up.

Now you’ll need to test your trigger. Zapier will find your most recent Instagram post and use this information to set up the rest of your Zap. Click Test trigger.

Once it’s pulled in information from your Instagram account, click Continue.

    Tips For Your Pin Design:

How to Upload Photos on Pinterest (with Pictures)

    2. Make sure you use a vertical image size. 1000 x 1500 seems to be the sweet spot.

    3. Include your website address somewhere on the pin. It helps with branding and also creates a watermark to help protect your work for theft.

    Heres how it works:

    • My friend, whos already a customer and follows your Muffins board, sees the picture LOVES IT! and repins it to her Muffin Madness board.
    • I, a lover of muffins, but not currently a customer of yours, see the picture LOVE IT!, repin it to my MMMuffin board and click on your name to find out who you are

    Carefully Plan Your Boards

As , your brands boards can help reach new Pinners interested in specific topics or learning specific things.

For example, Oreos boards include Pins with inspiration for upcoming seasonal holidays like its Spooky Sweet Halloween board and Holidays with Oreo board as well as recipe ideas, like its Oreo Cupcakes and Oreo Cookie Balls board.

In other words, the brand skillfully mixes useful, engaging and inspiring content boards with boards that are more promotional:

And Aveeno has boards for their own products, like Aveeno Body and Sun Care boards:

But the brand also has other boards, like the Earth Day board that includes Pins indirectly showcasing the brand while showing an understanding of what their audience values and supports.

    Include A Call To Action

If you want people to take the next step with you, then tell them!

Dont assume your Pinterest followers know what action to take. Include a — and make sure its crystal clear.

Would you like your to repin or click-through to your product? Put that in the description or add it as a banner across your image.

Too often businesses leave this key piece out, shying away from the opportunity to direct a potential client or buyer. Dont fall into that trap.

This pin from DIY Ready is enticing for 2 reasons:

  • it asks a question
  • then it gives you the solution
  • One more important note: whatever you decide to include as a call to action, avoid using too many words.

Wordy descriptions can discourage or muddy the main message in your image.

How to use Pinterest â Deep Footprints

When you have your title, description, and Pins ready, theres one last thing to think about.

What board to Save it to!

currently recommend Saving to the most relevant, keyworded board first. This sends the algorithm helpful signals so your Pin will be shown to the most interested audience.

Go with either the most relevant board, or a top performer if you like. You can experiment with trying both of these to see which gets the best results.

You can also Save your Pin to more than one board. Tailwinds Smart Guide recommends no more than 10 boards, but this isnt a rule, just guidance.

Space out the Pins going to different boards, so your feed isnt full of the same Pin repeatedly. Tailwind interval pinning helps you do this quickly and easily.

When Pinning to the first board, consider Pinning related content around the same time. This is called board co-occurrence.
