WhatsApp is the worlds most popular chat platform, allowing 2 billion users to connect. It is difficult to distinguish between being ignored and being blocked because WhatsApp has purposefully made it hard to tell if you have been blocked for privacy protection. There are, however, some clever indications you have been blocked on WhatsApp here is how.
How Can You Tell If You Have Been Blocked On Whatsapp
Why Hasnt My Whatsapp Message Been Delivered
There are several reasons that you can send a message and it is not delivered, and some of the most common of these include:
- Recipient might have their phone turned off
- Recipient might have current connection issues
- Recipient might have used the Slimer Method to become invisible
If on the one hand the blue ticks can be useful to know whether a recipient has actually read the messages that you have sent, it can also be an obstacle. If you do not want to let this person know whether the messages they send have gotten read or not, there are ways to accomplish this.
After the controversies that can exist over a small blue tick, which I am not going to bore you with right now so you dont end up annoyed and cussing me out, WhatsApp has offered a solution.
Now, you can choose to make blue ticks optionally visible.
It is important to know that if you turn off blue ticks, it does not hide your online status. What I am referring to is the online writing that appears below the name of someone that you are chatting with at any given time.

How To Know If Someone Has Blocked You On Whatsapp
Nowadays Whatsapp is one of the most popular forms of communication, as it provides a secure platform for you to send messages, pictures and videos, and even make calls to people around the world for free, so long as you have an internet connection. One of the useful features on Whatsapp is that, if you no longer want to receive messages or notifications from a particular contact, you can mute them or even block them. The app does not tell someone if they have been blocked, so how do you know if someone has blocked you on Whatsapp?
Well, there are a few things that will help you work out if you have been blocked on Whatsapp. On their own, any one of these symptoms might not mean you have been blocked, but if you are seeing all of the things we describe below, you can reasonably assume you have been blocked. So read on below and let OneHowTo explain how to know if someone has blocked you on Whatsapp.
The first thing you may notice when someone has blocked you on Whatsapp is that their profile picture will disappear. When you go onto the chat with them you will only see a white silhouette on a grey background, as if they didn’t have a profile picture at all. However, this is the same thing you will see if that user has not set a profile picture, so you cannot be certain that they have blocked you just based on this fact.

Does One Grey Tick Mean Blocked
When you send messages on WhatsApp, you will see two little grey check marks right underneath your message bubble. What those check marks indicate is that the message has been delivered. However, if a message cant be delivered for some reason, like if you have been blocked by the intended recipient, then there will only be one grey check mark, which indicates that the message has been sent but not delivered.
So to break it down:
- One GREY check mark means that the message has been sent but not delivered.
- Two GREY check marks mean that the message has been sent and delivered.
- Two BLUE check marks mean the message has been sent, delivered, and read.
*Note: The two blue check marks are the WhatsApp read receipts. Not everyone uses read receipts. If you dont have read receipts turned on for you, you wont be able to see read receipts from others, even when they use them.
But just because your message only shows one grey tick mark that does not necessarily mean you were blocked. Other reasons that could preclude a message from being delivered are that the recipient number is no longer in service; the recipient could have deleted their WhatsApp account; they could have been banned from WhatsApp; or it could simply mean that they arent connected to a network at the time the message is sent. But if you are seeing one gray check mark along with all of the other signs outlined above, then youve more than likely been blocked.

Check The Contacts Last Seen Status:
We have made this intentionally ambiguous in order to protect your privacy when you block someone
A early indication is to check the WhatsApp user in questions Last Seen status.
Users should first of all open a chat with the user.
At the very top of the chat window, underneath their name, there should be a message such as: Last seen today at 3pm.
If such a message is not visible, this could mean you have been blocked.
It is important to underline how WhatsApp has a setting to intentionally block such Last Seen status, meaning this is not definitive evidence for being blocked.
Start by creating a new chat and adding a couple of friends to it.
Now users should attempt to add the suspected contact.
If you can add them to the group then, regardless of other steps, you have not been blocked.
If you get an error message saying that you dont have the authorisation to add them, it means you have been blocked.
Although this may be due to a malfunction, if you can add other people while at the same time not being able to see whether the suspected blocker is online or be able to call or message them, then it is almost certainly a sign you have been blocked.
Whatsapp Ticks Explained What Do They Convey
Well whove been using WhatsApp for long must be knowing what these ticks actually mean, but if you fall among those whove only started using WhatsApp recently you mustve surely noticed a single tick, double ticks and the recently introduced blue ticks you get when you send a new message. Do you know what they stand for? Its obvious for a new user to not get what these ticks mean, so its completely alright if you dont understand them. What am I here for after all?

When Do I See One Tick
When you send a message and if it leaves your mobile i.e. if your internet connection is working properly, the message gets uploaded to the WhatsApp server. When a message successfully leaves your mobile, you see one tick. This doesnt mean that the message was delivered nor does it mean that the message was seen by the receiver.
A single tick simply means that the message was sent from your mobile, but the receiver hasnt received it so far.
How To Tell If You’ve Been Blocked On Whatsapp: A Contact’s Last Seen Is Missing
When you get blocked on WhatsApp, the service prevents you from seeing information like when the contact was last online, so if your contacts last seen has suddenly disappeared, this might be why.;
On its website, WhatsApp confirms, “Your last seen, online, status updates, and any changes made to your profile photo will no longer be visible to contacts you’ve blocked.”
Again, we must caveat that this isnt always the case. Sometimes it might just mean that your contact has turned this feature off in their privacy settings.;

Can You Block Someone On Whatsapp Without Them Knowing
Whenever you block someone on WhatsApp, they are not made aware that you blocked them. If you are concerned that they may use the clues outlined above to figure out that you have blocked them, theres really nothing that can be done about it. WhatsApp tries to make it as unclear as possible, but users will still be able to put the clues together and realize that you have blocked them.
Despite being ultimately inconclusive, people are probably going to assume that they have been blocked once they notice these signs. However, if you want to get really savvy and put them off the trail before you block them, you might be able to mislead them by deleting your profile photo and hiding your status and other info in your privacy settings before you discontinue communications. But that still might be a bit of a stretch.
Check Your Contacts Whatsapp Status
If someone has opened the WhatsApp messaging app on his/her device and the device has an internet connection, then you will see the text online below the name/number of the contact. This feature is always available and cannot be hidden by anyone. And, if your number is blocked by someone, then you will not see the text online for that contact anymore.
Do you know someone who is a mutual friend for you and your suspected contact? Then, you can just check with that person about the WhatsApp status of your contact. If he/she is able to see the text online for that contact and you dont see that, then it is clear that you are blocked by that particular contact on WhatsApp.

The Recipient Whatsapp Account Is Offline
Sending a message to whatsapp is quite different from the message being delivered to the recipient. As long as you have a working Wi-Fi or a mobile data on your phone,;WhatsApp messages will be sent to the recipient.
But the question is;
What about the recipient?
Your whatsapp message is sent doesnt mean it has been delivered, and as long as the recipient whatsapp account is offline, your sent whatsapp messages wont be delivered until the recipient has a working internet services on its mobile phone.
This is one of the major reasons for whatsapp message sent but not delivered.
The recipient is offline, no internet services on the recipient side or probably the recipient restricted data background on its whatsapp mobile app.
WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO;
In this type of situation, you have to exercise more patience and see if the messages will get delivered to the recipient.
However, if after a day or two the messages are still not delivered to the recipients whatsapp account, then I recommend you to call the recipient phone number using the cellular network and see if things are okay.

How To Know If Someone Blocked You On Whatsapp
Has one of your contacts on WhatsApp gone unusually silent recently? Maybe they arent texting you back or for some reason it looks like they havent been online in ages. If you are worried that you might have been blocked on WhatsApp, you may be wondering if theres a way to find out for sure. You might be hoping there is some convenient Who blocked me on WhatsApp feature that you can access to see just who might have blocked you.
Unfortunately, there is no such tool. If you want to check if someone has blocked you on WhatsApp, its not as easy as accessing a list of names who blocked you. And its also not possible to ever know with 100 percent certainty that someone blocked you. The signs that may lead you to presume that youve been blocked on WhatsApp could in fact be caused by other factors, such as network errors, so even when youve reasonably determined that a person has blocked you, youll never be able to completely rule out other possibilities.
