Pence presides over a joint session of Congress to count the electoral votes for president at the US Capitol in Washington, DC, Jan. 6.
On Wednesday, a rumor started flying on social media that Vice President Mike Pence had unfollowed President Donald Trump on Twitter.
But that is definitely false.
Pence’s personal account, , in fact only follows 48 people on Twitter, the first of which to be listed is Trump.
His White House account, , also still follows Trump.
The rumor began after Pence defied Trump on Wednesday to throw out votes that Trump has repeatedly lied about being fraudulent. As president of the Senate, Pence has the largely ceremonial role of overseeing the session that certifies the Electoral College results.
It is my considered judgment that my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not, Pence said in a prepared statement.
After his statement came a rash of false tweets saying he had unfollowed Trump.
Trump Unfollows Ann Coulter On Twitter After Months Of Border Wall Criticism
Trump voters are exhausted. If he gives them no reason to fight for him, they wont, Coulter tells TheWrap
President Trump officially unfollowed Ann Coulter on Wednesday after months of withering criticism she has leveled against him, primarily over the lack of progress on his promised wall along the Mexican border.
The unfollow happened at 7:40 p.m ET, without fanfare and was memorialized by the always watching TrumpAlert bot that follows the Trump familys activity on Twitter in real time.
At least he read the column, Coulter told TheWrap in an emailed response to the news, with a link to her latest attack on Trump.
His business is convincing people with lowbrow taste to give him their money, she said. Either Trump never intended to build the wall and was scamming voters all along, or he has no idea how to get it done and zero interest in finding out.
In the end, well probably find out wall was Trumps safe word with Stormy Daniels. Its just something he blurts out whenever hes in trouble, Coulter added.

The 2020 Presidential Election
Trump had spent years making false statements about the 2016 presidential election that put him in the White House for example, tweeting that he had won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally.
Twitter stepped in when Trump began warning that massive fraud would mar the 2020 presidential contest.
In May 2020, the company added fact-checking warnings to his tweets for the first time, flagging two posts in which he baselessly claimed that mail-in ballots were likely to be substantially fraudulent. Trump responded by issuing an executive order calling on federal regulators to roll back legal protections for social media platforms that restrict their users speech.
Twitter further expanded its election misinformation and civic integrity policies in September 2020, saying it would label or remove false or misleading information that could undermine public confidence in an election or other civic process.
Trump continued to be a repeat offender.
Twitter slapped fact-check labels on Trump tweets the day after the November 2020 election, saying he had violated its policies by falsely alleging that surprise ballot dumps had altered the results.
Twitter also labeled other tweets in which Trump alleged that Democrats were trying to STEAL the Election. But Trump continued claiming election fraud and calling for the results to be overturned during the next two months.
Be A Business Owned By Trump
Daddy doesnt love all his children equally it seems because Trump only follows some of his 11 luxury resorts on Twitter.
Perhaps the others simply dont provide the same quality of retweeted memes. Among those hotels missing out on the big guys follow are his resorts in Scotland and Vancouver. In fact, he only seems to follow US Trump properties. Guess his commitment to hard borders goes further than just building a wall.

The George Floyd Protests
Twitters crackdown began in the spring of 2020, as Trump lashed back at the racial-justice protests that sprang up following the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer.
In a tweet on May 29, Trump called protesters in Minneapolis THUGS and appeared to threaten violence against the protesters, saying that when the looting starts, the shooting starts.
Twitter added a public interest notice to the tweet, saying it violates our policies regarding the glorification of violence and barred individuals from retweeting it but only after it had been shared more than 23,000 times. The company said it allowed the tweet to stay up because of its relevance to ongoing matters of public importance.
Twitter took similar action on a tweet May 30 in which Trump threatened that protesters would be greeted with the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons if they breached the White House fence. Twitter also labeled that tweet as glorifying violence.

Politics For All
Why Are People Talking About The 25th Amendment
Following the riots, more lawmakers on both sides of the political spectrum have begun calling for the 25th Amendment to be invoked, which would effectively President Trump from office.
Its time to invoke the 25th Amendment and to end this nightmare, Rep. Adam Kinzinger said, according to Politico. The president is unfit and the president is unwell.
Others are calling for the president to be impeached, with less than two weeks left in office.
Section four of the 25th Amendment reads that if the vice president and a two-thirds majority of both houses of Congress deem the current sitting president “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”
What this means is if lawmakers determine that the president is unable to conduct his duties as president successfully, he can be immediately removed from office.
It’s currently unclear if Vice President Pence or members of Congress will invoke the 25th Amendment. Some Republican lawmakers are openly against the measure, while others have begun circulating the articles of Impeachment again.

During the riots happening on Capitol Hill, tensions were clearly rising between President Trump and the rest of his party, specifically with Vice President Pence. Following this tension, a rumor began circulating that the vice president had unfollowed the commander-in-chief on Twitter.
According to Snopes, the rumor was started by fake news site Disclose.tv, and if you check any of the vice president’s social channels , you’ll see President Trump’s accounts still there. So no, it doesn’t look like Vice President Pence unfollowed President Trump.
Social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram all locked President Trump’s accounts. Twitter locked President Trump’s account for 12 hours following the removal of several of his tweets, while both Facebook and Instagram said his profiles were also locked.
According to CNN, Twitter said in a statement that “future violations… will result in permanent suspension of the @realDonaldTrump account,” marking the first time the social media site has warned of a potential suspension.
