You can take the following actions with members who have viewed your profile, from the Whos Viewed Your Profile page:

If the viewer is a 1st-degree connection, you can click on their profile picture to navigate to their profile, and then click Message to send them a message.
If the viewer is a 2nd or 3rd degree connection, you can click Connect to send them an invitation to connect. You can also click their photo to see their profile.
If the viewer is a 3rd-degree connection, you can send the member an InMail. Note: If the member has chosen to opt out of receiving InMails, then you still have the option to click Connect.
If you only see semi-private information such as their job title or industry, you can click the information shown, which will re-direct you to a Search link. This will run a search based on that information for LinkedIn members who share that information.

Info On Individual Viewers

I can get some information about my viewer without actually clicking on his/her profile. In the case below: a 2nd degree connection, who is a law school student in MN looked at my profile 4 days ago.

The secret sauce here is that I get a rough idea about how he came to view my profile. In this case, he clicked on my name from his Homepage. That means one of my updates or a comment I made landed on his Home Feed. Since he is not a 1st connection, I assume that it landed on his Home Feed because of one of our shared connections. When I hover my mouse over the lower right corner of his photo, I see we have 2 shared connections. I can click on that to see who they are.

As I mentioned, in this case I know he found me and clicked on my profile from his homepage. LinkedIn also tells us if they came from a LinkedIn search query, the People You May Know section, People Similar to You prompt, a LinkedIn app or Other. Other means some outside website link or search engine like Google. Its my understanding that when its blank, someone typed your name in the search bar at the top of their page.

And, of course, LinkedIn prompts me to engage with the person by adding the big blue connect button. When my viewer is a 1st connection, it says Send a message
