How To Post On Twitter To Multiple Accounts
Composer is the primary method for publishing your tweets in Hootsuite.
Step 1: To start publishing, click New Post at the top of the screen.
Step 2: Select the account you want to tweet from in the Post To field. If you want to post the same tweet to multiple accounts, simply select them all.
Step 3: Add your text. To mention another account, start typing their handle. Hootsuite will auto populate existing Twitter accounts, so you can select the right handle when you see it.
If you add a link, you can choose to shorten the URL.
Tip: Shortening URLs also makes them trackable, so you can see in your Analytics how many people are clicking on your link.
Step 4: Add your media. You can upload files from your computer, or browse assets in the Media Library, which contains free images and GIFs.
Step 5: Double check the preview to make sure everything looks perfect. Hit Save Draft if you want to mull it over.
Step 6: You can Post Now or Schedule for Later to choose the time and date of posting. You can also turn on AutoSchedule, to let Hootsuite select the optimal time to publish.
Step 7: Return to Publisher to view your Drafts and Scheduled posts at a glance. Click Planner view at the top of the screen to see your content laid out in a calendar format. If you see a gap in your content calendar, just click on the empty space in the calendar to add a tweet to it.
You can filter content by Twitter account by clicking on the Networks listed on the sidebar.

The “Can compose promoted-only Tweet” permission allows a logged-in user to create promoted-only Tweets in the “Creatives”> “Tweets” tab. Only account administrators can grant this permission, and it can only be granted to other account administrators and ads managers. You can never grant compose promoted-only Tweet permission to campaign analysts, organic analysts, or partner audience managers.
Promoted-only Tweets are only shown to users targeted in your ads campaigns. Unless specifically targeted, promoted-only Tweets do not show up on your followers’ timelines. They’re made within your ads account and, when seen by a targeted user, function like normal Tweets and can receive replies, be shared, Retweeted, liked, and more.
To grant permission to compose Promoted-only Tweets, make sure the permission level displays “Can compose promotable Tweets” below the user on the “Edit access to account” page.

The native Twitter app allows you to log in and stay logged in to multiple accounts simultaneously, which is super handy. With this Twitter app, you can monitor all your accounts for incoming direct messages and tweet for instant conversations.

If youre an Android user, these instructions will guide you.
All you do to access each Twitter account is log in once. From then on, all you have to do is toggle back and forth between these accounts in the Twitter app. You will stay logged in until you decide to log out. Once you have access to all your accounts on this app, you can have conversations, upload pictures and/or video and participate in in real time.
What you cannot do with the native Twitter app is schedule content to go out to your Twitter accounts.
There is no way a social media manager can spend all their time crafting one tweet at a time! The need to schedule tweets becomes apparent as the Twitter accounts stack up. In order to tweet at regular intervals and/or at set times, it is imperative tweets can be created and then scheduled, in bulk.

Theres however a simple workaround that will let you use the same email address with all your Twitter handles – the only condition is that you should be using a Gmail or Google Apps email address.
In Gmail, you can add a dot anywhere in the username and all emails address to that new alias will still reach your mailbox. For instance, if your original email address is , any emails sent to or will land in your mailbox because Gmails ignores periods in the email username.
Update: Please do that note that you have to enable the catch-all option in your domain setting to use email aliases inside Google Apps. Thus it is a better option to use a free Gmail address for Twitter.
When you open an account in Gmail, you automatically get another valid email address that uses the .
So if you only have two handles on twitter, you can use the gmail.com address with one handle and the googlemail.com address with the second handle.

If youre a business owner, most likely you want a Twitter account separate from your personal Twitter account. It can get a little chaotic to have two separate accounts under two separate emails. A Customer Service Account
Any business of suitable size should have a customer service account, in my opinion. Small businesses run by one person who can manage it all by email or chat dont necessarily need one, but then, they can handle it through direct messages on their main account. Once you reach a sufficient size, you end up with too many notifications and too many messages on your main brand account. You need a dedicated customer service account.
Thankfully, its easy enough to create and manage such an account. You can use one of the many to do most of the work for you, but you have the advantage of keeping all of the information and all of the metrics in one place. Its easy to see what sort of volume of tickets you get and how well youre helping people out when its all kept in one place, isolated from your marketing.

Twitter Finally Offers Multiple Logins For Sharing Twitter Accounts Without Sharing Passwords
Businesses on Twitter will be happy to hear that Twitter has finally introduced support that allows for multiple users to use the same Twitter account but with different logins. With the addition of TweetDeck Teams, it means that companies will no longer have to worry about their employees stealing their Twitter account simply by changing the email address and password.
This will also help companies not having to change the password, and having all their employees with access relearning a new password, when someone leaves the company.
The support to add the multiple logins is through Twitters TweetDeck. You assign one person as the admin, the team members who essentially have master control. Then in the account section, you simply add your contributors personal Twitter account handle and assign them a role either admin or contributor.
The contributor role means users can do typical Twitter functions such as tweeting and following, but they cannot add or remove users nor can they change the password to the entire account.
One downside to Twitters implementation of multiple logins is that everyone must also be using TweetDeck in order to use it.
However from a safety point of view, requiring the use of TweetDeck could hopefully alleviate some of the issues where we have seen some employees accidentally Tweet from a business account instead of from the personal account.
How To Merge Twitter Accounts
If youve ever juggled multiple Twitter accounts, you know how challenging it can be. Not only do you need to engage your followers by producing targeted, valuable content, you also need to keep your brand message consistent across all accounts.
Sounds a little overwhelming, right?
It can be, which is why it might be worth merging your Twitter accounts instead. By unifying your Twitter presence, you can strengthen your brand story and reach a wider pool of followers across two or more separate accounts.
The problem? As of yet, theres no official way to merge Twitter accounts. However, even if you cant literally merge your existing accounts into one, you can still run them as a single unit from a marketing perspective.
Below, Ill show you when it might be worth merging Twitter accounts as a marketing strategy to the extent its possible, and Ill talk you through specific circumstances when dual account management is especially critical.

How To Set Up A Second Twitter Account
Twitter does not restrict you to a single account. If you need multiple accounts, such as accounts for each product type your company offers, you can create a new account exactly as you did your first. However, each account must use a different email address. Furthermore, you can only be logged in to one account at a time in the same browser, so to use each account, you must log out of the first or use a secondary browser.
Log out of your first Twitter account and visit the Sign Up page . Alternatively, open the Sign Up page in another browser.
Enter your name and email address in the fields provided. If you don’t have a second email address, consider signing up for a Web-based account, such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail.
Choose a password and username for the account. Look beside each field for messages. If a password doesn’t comply to the 6-character minimum, or if the username is already taken, Twitter posts a note to the right. Suggested usernames appear at the bottom clicking one of these available names automatically fills in the username field.

Audit Your Twitter Accounts
First, assess both Twitter accounts to identify what youve got in common and where the differences lie. For example, maybe you sell similar products, but you Tweet in different styles. Or, maybe youre both fairly active on Twitter, but your follower counts differ considerably.
Heres an example. MoonPie has a fun and highly distinctive Twitter voice:
If they merged with a company that Tweeted with less humor, the marketing team would need to find a new voice suitable for both brands.
Use your findings to identify how you move both accounts forward with more unity. If legal issues arise due to the merger, dont forget to involve your legal teams.
Create An Internal Approval Process
With large and divided teams, you run into issues of making sure Tweets are on brand and timed correctly. How do you resolve this? Create an easy approval and assignment process.
A unified calendar and draft review process in Sprout is as easy as a click of a button. With the publishing calendar, youll be able to easily see whats scheduled among all of your accounts. If approvals are needed for some Tweets, then select it when youre composing it.
When a Tweet comes in that asks about your product, which account and which team member should answer it? For some teams, someone is directly responsible for sifting through incoming messages and assigning them to team members. Then these team members are able to focus on crafting messages to customers instead of wading through noise.

Twitter will read these tweaked addresses as completely different users despite the fact they all point to the same account. If you use Yahoo, Outlook, or any other email service, you will have to use different addresses for each account.
