Snapchat is fun, and millions use it to stay in touch and share their lives with one another every day. It has an unearned reputation for being difficult to use, but its not, after you get the basics. Once youre in and have a few friends to share with, its easy. If you dont have anyone to show you, you dont get it, or youre just wondering what the fuss is about, let us help.

Lets approach this from an angle you may already be familiar with: A slide show. We know, slide shows are boring. Stick with us, this ones worth it.

There are plenty of reasons to use Snapchat sharing with friends and disappearing messages and video for starters. These are the reasons I use Snapchat, I cant speak for you. But I will say there are a lot of dogs, and theyre very adorable.

Speaking of that filter that makes you pretty, here are some examples. You can try them both, but the important thing to remember is that theyre each lovely. If youre a purist, feel free to go without, of course.

Before we get too deep into specific features and filters, lets take a look at Snapchats home screen: You know, the first thing you see when you open the app. Heres a quick rundown of what youll see, and what everything does.

O.K., so thats the tour. Ready to take some snaps?

The Travel Feature Of Snapchat

This travel feature is viewed independently by selecting the travel card from the bottom of the display, which shows a dotted line from the original place to the persons new location.

When you view the travel card, the person whose trip youre tracking does not get an alert or notified directly. However, on the profile display inside Snapchat, if you scroll to the bottom, youll see that Snapchat treats your movements like a Story, meaning that youre able to see who viewed your specific activity on the map. Clicking on the listing shows who viewed where you went.

So, while you cant see everyone who saw your location on the Snap Map, you can view who has looked at your recent travels, whether hopping from city to city or flying halfway around the world.

Can I Save My Snaps

Yes, you can save Snaps by pressing the Save’ button on the edit screen. This will save your Snap to Memories. You can then save a Snap to your phone’s camera roll by selecting it, swiping up, tapping the upward arrow button, and selecting ‘Save Image’.

You can also save your entire Story by tapping the downward arrow icon. Remember, if you don’t, your Snaps will disappear after 24 hours.

How to See Your Snapchat History – Proof of Snaps Sent & Received

They are in a bad mood

According to a report by Snapchat themselves, some 8% of their users are blocked every day. This means that most people are not really happy with what they see from their friends in their stories and eventually block them out as well. If theyre in a bad mood, they tend to block almost everyone temporarily in order to have some peace.

They are too busy to respond to you

People block other people on Snapchat because they are too busy to respond to them They may be too busy for the current moment and have no time to respond to you. So, one of the best ways to win them back is by being friendly and humorous on your next Snaps, and you need to also give them some space. They block others because they just feel like it at the moment and dont want any contact with anyone else. On the other hand, its a big mistake to block users just because youre too busy, the other person feels ignored and you lose a potential follower or I can say a friend. You have to be careful about who you block on Snapchat and social media in general.

Many Snapchat users mention their usernamea in a post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other place online to encourage others to add them as a friend. This is fine if you have all of the above privacy settings configured to your liking and are happy to have lots of people viewing your snaps, but not if you want to keep your Snapchat activity and interaction more intimate.

In addition to sharing usernames, users will often post screenshots of their snapcodes, which are QR codes that other users can scan using their Snapchat cameras to automatically add them as a friend. If you don’t want a bunch of random users adding you as a friend, don’t publish a screenshot of your snapcode anywhere online.

Reasons Why Snapchat Might Access Snaps & Other Data

As to be expected with any free services, ads are one of the ways in which Snapchat generates revenue. Also as to be expected, this can result in targeted ads, and in some cases, Snaps could be used to further ensure the targeting is as accurate as possible. How this is implemented isnt totally clear, but it is a point to be aware of. In addition, there are legal instances where Snapchat could be required by law to provide access to a Snap. This not only means Snapchat might see a Snap, but others as well. Speaking of others, Snapchat has little control over third-party apps and clients. If using any of these to improve the Snapchat user experience, there is always the possibility of Snaps becoming visible to others.

Overall, Snapchat itself highlights the fact that users should not treat Snaps any differently to anything else that’s . Although Snaps are designed to only be seen by recipients and deleted after a set amount of time, Snapchat users shouldnt really share anything through a Snap that they wouldnt be totally fine with others seeing. After all, theres nothing stopping another Snapchat user from saving and sharing a Snap theyve received.

Can Someone Tell If You Watched Their Instagram Story

TBH, Instagram is equally as revealing as Snapchat. Users are now able to see who viewed their Story for the 24 hours itâs live, and not just how many people viewed their Story. Whether you watch the Story of someone you follow or not, theyâll be able to scroll through a long list of usernames and tap on your profile. This is the case even if your own account is private.

Thereâs only one catch: After 24 hours, a user canât see the exact usernames that viewed their Story. At this point, Instagram only tells you how many people viewed your Story, whether itâs archived or added to a highlight. If youâre snooping on your crush, itâs best to watch their older highlights. However, be sure to look at the date stamp at the top, so you know when recently-posted Stories are coming up. Stories can be added to highlights even when theyâre live!

What Does All The Lingo Mean

Many reports and studies have claimed that the bulk of those users are millennials. As a result of those younger users, the app has yielded a number of different unique terms and names for its features, from snaps to story. If youre confused by all this lingo, you should really read through the Glossary section of this Snapchat guide before you move on to how the app actually works.

Snapchatter: Its not as common anymore, but it means a user of Snapchat.

Snap: When you take a photo or video, or receive a photo or video, it is known as a snap. So, when someone asks you to snap them, they are asking you to send them a photo or video through Snapchat, or even a message through the apps chat function. The Snapchat app itself is also colloquially referred to as Snap, as is the apps developer/public company.

Snapback: This term was more popular when Snapchat launched, but its faded since. Nevertheless, if youve heard it, just know that it simply means a reply to a snap. So, if you Snapback, youre just replying to a private one-on-one snap that youve received.

Trophy case: Snapchat might notify you of a new trophy youve earned, and tapping that notification will take you to your trophy case, which holds all the trophies for milestones youve achieved as a Snapchat user. From sending a snap with a filter to sending 50 snaps with five or more pen colours, trophies encourage user interaction and content creation.
