Although you can install WhatsApp on your tablet or iPad with no help from the smartphone itself, using the services is not possible without bringing the smartphone into the scene. WhatsApp doesnt really need any phone unless you have a phone number and a system ready to get yourself registered with the server. No matter if you wish to use the official web client or the WhatsApp apk file on an Android tablet, the process of registration will need you to have access to your smartphone. Additionally, on iPad, youll need to have an iPhone ready to make sure you finalize a working WhatsApp ipa file.
As soon as you conclude the registration process, youll not need your smartphone anymore. You can seamlessly continue using WhatsApp on your iPad/tablet until you wish to log yourself out. But again, if the WhatsApp web client is what youre after, well, then having your smartphone active is essential.

Whatsapp Confirms That An Ipad Version Is On The Way
iPad version finally confirmed
In an interview with WABetaInfo, Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart confirmed that WhatsApp is coming to the iPad, alongside more features on the way.
The messaging app has been a staple of smartphones for years now, eclipsing Apple and Googles own messaging apps for something thats used by billions around the world.
In the last year, the usage has grown exponentially, with more demand for privacy and even better features to help manage the many group chats weve all become accustomed to.
Even though the messaging of WhatsApps new privacy guidelines was terribly mismanaged earlier this year, upcoming features look to alleviate these frustrations and confusions with multi-device support and more disappearing messaging options.

Nice Companion App With A Few Limitations
Was looking for an app that would allow me to view and reply to Whatsapp conversations. My sister, brother and I use the Whatsapp to send messages to one another because we live so far apart and to keep costs down from texting. Before downloading this app when using my iPad and a Whatsapp message came through Id have to go find my iPhone to check them. Now I can check them without that nonsense. I would consider this app a COMPANION to the actual Whatsapp with some limitations. It doesnt alert me to a new message, but then I usually hear my phoneping which notifies me of a new message. I havent figured out how, or if I evening can, attach a picture to a message via this app. With that said, it frees me from having to get my phone to check a new message and I can use the larger keyboard on my iPad instead of the tiny one on my phone. So far I like the app. Just remember it is NOT an app developed by Whatsapp.

A Comprehensive Review Of Whatsapp Security
First of all yes I am on addersal. WhatsApp has a number of advanced security features. It has end-to-end encryption, just like Apples iMessage and Signal. All messages flowing through the platform are secured so that only the sender and the recipient can view them. WhatsApp couldnt read your message even if it wanted to. The app doesnt store your personal information, and only people you approve as contacts can message you. As with an increasing number of internet services like Google and Facebook, WhatsApp uses two-factor authentication, which has you type in a second passcode sent to your phone via text message to access your account. Group messages can conflict with some privacy settings, however, in that if you have blocked someone, they can still appear in a group message that you can see
